Since the party was out of the blue, it wasn't as big as Kevin's birthday party. But it was still good enough. Because today was a Friday, school ended earlier which gave me a bit more time to prepare for the party. Even with the match.
I might just be going crazy, but it seemed like Shawn was avoiding me. Anytime I was around the guys, he'd just leave. Now that really hurts me. But I tried my best to ignore it.
The party was ok, but Karla was furious! There were more people than she expected. And like how every school party goes, it was starting to get wild.
"God put me out of my misery." Karla muttered with her face in her hands. I gently patted her shoulder.
"Karla, it's not even three yet, you have to relax."
"We don't throw parties at my house without a parent's supervision. And I'm so sacred that mom or dad might just pop out."
"Yeah, at least have a drink." She nodded and took a sip out of the red cup.
"Karla!! Emily! What are you doing here?!" Kat screamed a bit loudly.
"Yeah, I expected this from Emily, but not from you Karla." Tasha added.
"I don't want to have so much fun, I'll loose track of time."
"She's right. A party like this can make you forget every single one of your worries." Kat said as she twirled and giggled more than usual. Is she drunk already? I wondered.
"Are you drunk Kat? I thought I told Carl no alcohol!" Tasha and I placed a hand on Karla to push her back to her seat.
"Seriously Karla, you really expected to throw a party without alcohol?" Asked Tasha.
"Yeah Karly, just relax and have fuuuuun!!"
"Alright, that's enough drinking for you." Tasha collected the cup and handed it over to me. Kat pouted. I swear I could see her eyes welling up.
"Don't be mean Tash, I'm just having fun." She whined.
"It's to early for this." Tasha replied. I saw a familiar face walking towards us.
"Hey ladies."
"Scotty!! Tasha is being mean to me." She wrapped her arms around his neck as she whined. He stared at a drunk Kat and chuckled.
'Oh poor girl.'
"Tasha, it's not good to be mean." He said in a stern voice. I saw Kat nod languidly.
"Well I'm sorry if being mean helps saving you from a big tongue lash at home."
"Hey Emily."
"Hi Scott." I said and this time, I didn't speak harshly. Scott and I crossed paths a few times at school. But we were never close friends. Then a loud ruckus was heard. Karla immediately sprung into action.
"Hey! No fighting within this property!" She rushed to see what was going on. Tasha followed suit. I was not going to go there. Who knows what was going on there.
"Why do I feel like you don't like me?" My head snapped towards to Scott.
"I never said that."
"Yeah, but your action implies it. Tell me how can I change that?" He asked. A smile tugged slightly at my lips.
"Probably if you stopped being cocky."
"Me? How am I being cocky?" I shrugged. I then felt someone rest their head on my shoulder. It was Kat. She had fallen asleep.
'Poor Kat.'
"Come on Em, I just want you to like me."
'Em? Did he just call me Em?'
"And I said I do. Why don't you believe me."
"Alright. So where are you from?" I stared at Scott for a while before replying.
"The untied states." He nodded slightly.
"No wonder you're so pretty." I smiled cheekily at him.
"And you, did you grow up here in Canada?"
"Yes, but I was born in Australia. We moved to Canada when I was five." I stared at him in awe.
"You don't look Australian." He laughed. His laugh was quite charming.
"Yeah, I get that a lot. Are you loving Canada? We do have an amazing flair that other countries can't seem to beat." I rolled my eyes.
"And there is the cockiness. You were not even born here and you're bragging about Canada, but you're right. I'm starting to love this country."
"I just can't help it. And I'm glad you're loving it here. Although I wish they were other things you could start to love" I gulped nervously.
'Ok, that's scary. Super scary. Or is he just flirting with me?'
"I have a feeling I won't like what you're going to say next." I said before taking a sip from my drink.
"Ok ok. I won't say it." His hands were raised in surrender. I smiled. I could feel someone's strong gaze on me. I looked up to see Shawn at the other side of the room where the ruckus came from. He had a small frown on his handsome face. At least he even glanced at me. I thought he had lost his memory and forgotten about me.
"Blue rhymes with clue." Muttered a sleepy Kat.
'What does that mean?'
"We should take her to a more quiet place." Said Scott. I nodded in approval. Scott then went over to Karla. They had a few words and soon he was back with Karla.
"Little Kat, wake up." Karla slapped Kat's cheeks slightly but she never budged.
"She always gets like this when she's drunk. We'll just take her to my room. She'll be awake within an hour." When Kat got safely tucked in, and whatever that caused the ruckus got solved, the party went on.

"Alright people. Party's over. Everyone out." Karla announced. I checked the time and saw that it was 4:30. The girl was not joking.
"You heard the lady, time to get moving." Carl added. Karla sent a glare towards him. But she seemed glad that he wasn't rebuking her now. Everyone started filing out of the house.
"I'll take you home Emily." Shawn said curtly and walked away.
Within a minute, we were in his car, heading to my house.
Shawn was acting strange. In fact, he's been acting weird since our conversation in the locker room. His attitude was cold and a little frightening.
"Are you ok?" I asked. I don't know why but I was compelled to do so
"I'm fine, don't disturb me." He replied. I was quite shocked. His voice was so cold and distant. It was like he was pushing me away. But I didn't do anything worng, did I?
No other words were spoken as we drove in an awkward silence. I just wanted to be home already. For the first time, I didn't want to be around Shawn.
We finally stopped in front of my house. I unbuckled the seatbelt and bolted out of Shawn's car. But then his voice made me stop in my tracks.
"You should be careful around Scott." I turned to look at him in amazement.
"And why should I?" My voice was a little bit harsh. I mean, he didn't say a word to me and when he did, he was so harsh. He literally acted like I didn't exist and now he was telling me this?
"Because I said so."
'Oh hell no.'
"So what, I'm supposed to do whatever you want? When you're mad no one can talk to you but when you say something I must obey?"
"You obey if you know what's best for you." I couldn't believe what he was saying. I felt anger bubble in me.
"Are you freaking kidding me! You think you have the right to tell me what to do when you act like a cold jerk through out the afternoon? And why must I stay away from Scott. He's a nice person."
"Not everyone is what they seem Emily. Stop being naive."
'Naive!' I came down the steps and walked up to his car, the only thing that was separating us right now. His eyes were cold, his aura deadly. He was scaring the shit out of me but I didn't care. I was too angry to.
"I. am. not. naive! You are just being selfish. I mean, I was only being kind to you and you acted like I was a mosquito buzzing around you. And now you're ordering me around? That won't work Anderson, it won't." My voice was stern. I wasn't backing down from this. It's either he apologizes for being a jerk or he can go straight to hell.
"You can't act like a jerk one minute and expect me to act all normal and follow what you say the next minute. I don't work that way. I'm not dumb."
"The world doesn't revolve around you. And do whatever the hell you want to do, I don't care. Since you like him so much. Just don't say I didn't warn you." He replied. His voice sounded so venomous in my ears. I felt my heart break a little.
I watched Shawn get into his car and drive off. I stared into the distance replaying everything that just happened.
'I think I just ended my friendship with Shawn.'
Oh boy! Did Emily and Shawn just have a fall out? That wasn't expected. Even for me!! Well, there's still more to come. Keeping reading!!
