Alexander stood beside her throne, attentive as he watched her settle herself back on it.

Isabelle wasn't the biggest fan of the giant room or the massive chair set atop a huge pedestal with stairs leading up to it, but...

That was just politics, she supposed.

As soon as she was settled comfortably into the chair, she gestured to him, waving for him to lean down a little.

He did so with a charming smile, keeping his voice low and discreet as she whispered, "Bring me Snowball!"

Alexander gave a soft huff, but nodded obediently, making a quick exit.

There were servants stationed outside the door, but they did not question his passing - in fact, they paid him almost no heed.

It was just the way things were.

They would notice and react to anyone else doing such a thing. But the imperial harem could go when and where they pleased. They had every privilege despite not officially being called 'king consort'.
