Chapitre 6: A Coincidence?

"Huh?!" I exclaimed, breathing heavily, as my eyes opened again.

I woke up in another bed in another bedroom, however this one was different from the last, and it wasn't mine. It had minor cracks on the walls and floors, and the bed felt hard as well as looking a bit dusty.

I could still hear the voice in my head, repeating the same words over and over again.

"Don't trust anyone."

My head felt the same — dizzy and filled with confusion, but my right arm had a tight bandage wrapped it, which wasn't originally there in the previous "worlds" I had been in.

I tried getting up and when I did, I headed toward the door — despite the lack of energy I had — making it feel like I was in a time loop but just in different settings.

This time when I opened the door, nothing I saw was familiar.

Just like in the bedroom, there were cracks scattered on the walls and floors, and everything was sprinkled with dust.

The only thing, or person, I recognized was Keres.

"Orion! You're awake?" He asked, most likely surprised to see me standing there in the hallway, staring back at him.

"Are you hurt? I'll make, uh, I'll try to make you something to eat. We don't have much materials to work with and, uh well, my cooking isnt the best…but it's not the worst!"

Minutes flew by as I tried thinking of something to say. Words were fading away from my mind, the ones that weren't already gone before I woke up.

Eventually, I dug deep into my brain enough to find two words to respond with.

"Okay. Thanks."

Quietly, I walked back into the bedroom and jumped onto the bed, making my head sting — just like if you had a wound and rubbed alcohol against it, and it triggered a load of pain in my arm.

After cursing the bed for my own actions, I closed my eyes, ready to take a nap.

I saw nothing but pitch black, however I heard everything but silence.

"I tried warning you not to trust anyone. In fact, Keres might be trying to poison you right now."

"Leave him. There's no other choice. Unless you want to risk your life for some person you just met."

I opened my eyes, hoping for the voice — sounding exactly like mine — to go away, but it still went on with its lies, or what I hoped were lies.

"Leave him. It's either you leave him or you'll get betrayed again. Death could be waiting upon you if you stay with Keres any longer."

"Shushhh…!"I gruntted, trying hard not to scream, in fear it would alarm Keres.

"You know, when you first met Keok, you thought he was nice, you thought you'd be friends with him even after death. Lucy even promised she'd always be with you."

"This world is just one big loop, going on until forever."

I sat there, thinking about what it had just said.

Then, I started to rethink everything.

Everything in my life had been repeated many times, how my kindergarten friends forgot about me, how my middle school friends forgot about me, how my high school friends forgot about me.

I shook my head in denial. I'd rather trust some person I just met then some random voice in my head trying to persuade me into believing whatever lies it had in stock.

"Keres Revanche, Keok Revanche. Hmmm, don't they sound similar? I wonder if they're related?"

My eyes widened when I heard the word "related."

Was Keres really related to Keok? Or was this just one big coincidence?

"Orion! I made you…somewhat soup!" I heard Keres shout.

Was I going to get poisoned?

"Ah…I'm coming!" I shouted back.

Glancing around it, I could tell this was probably Keres' room.

Hastily, I attempted to check all the drawers and the closet, hoping for any information that supported the theory that Keres and Keok were siblings.

I had my hands gripped tightly on the closet handle, ready to pull it open, when I heard footsteps coming from outside.

Quickly, I left the closet alone and headed for the door.

"Oh! I was just about to call you out." Keres said when I opened the door before he could even get ahold of the doorknob.

I walked with him to the kitchen table, thinking of possibilities I would have never thought of.

Did Keok send Keres to make my life even more miserable?

Will I get poisoned by the very own person who saved me from getting eaten by zombies?

"Wait, you like soup…right?" He asked, concerned what my answer would be.

"Uhm, it's enjoyable…" I answered, anxious. "What's this made out of?"

I didn't want to sound like I was hesitating to drink Keres' soup, but just the thought of poisoning being mixed into soup made me uncomfortable — especially if poisoning was mixed in the one I would be drinking in a couple seconds.

"It's made out of fish. Why? Do you wanna learn how to make it?" Keres smiled, his eyes shining brightly.

"No — I mean, I don't know how to cook well, so no thanks."

I slurped the soup but the only thing on my mind was if what the voice had said before was true.

Is Keres related to Keok?

I didn't know the answer, but what I did know was finding the true answer would take a whole lot of courage and effort. However, I wouldn't stop until I find out the truth between Keres and Keok, no matter what I would need to provide.
