After hearing Samantha's words, a heavy silence settled over the room, broken only by the faint sobs escaping from Samantha's lips. Her cheeks were red from the impact of Spix's slaps.

On the other side of the room, Spix narrowed her gaze, her palm throbbing from the force of her slaps. She studied Samantha intently, trying to discern if she was speaking the truth or attempting to manipulate the situation. However, she couldn't deny the change in Samantha's demeanor. There was a sense of sincerity in her eyes and a different aura surrounding her, as if she were a different person possessed by a kinder soul. 

Spix couldn't help but feel a pang of doubt creeping into her mind. Perhaps Samantha was telling the truth after all. Yet he couldn't deny that the best manipulators are those who appear pitiful.
