Chapitre 16: Max is a Blacksmith!

The Red-Eyed Rabbit was almost 4 feet long. It was definitely larger than the rabbits in real life.

"This thing right here has not fully matured yet. An adult Red-Eyed Rabbit can grow up to 5 feet or even 6 feet long." Larry commented upon seeing the corpse of the rabbit.

"This thing is still a juvenile rabbit?" Mark was surprised by this.

Larry nodded. "That's right."

Mark pulled the dagger from the corpse of the rabbit and handed it back to Larry. "Thank you for this."

However, Larry pushed it back to him and said. "You can keep the dagger with you. Just treat it as a gift from me. It's not anything valuable, but you can use it to skin mystical beasts and wild animals."

Hearing this, Mark hesitated. He was embarrassed to receive something without giving anything in return. "How could I-"

"Just keep it." Larry insisted.

"In that case, I won't stand on ceremony." Mark no longer hesitated after seeing his sincere face.

Mark sheathed the dagger and tied it to his leg. He then grabbed the rabbit corpse and slung it over his shoulder. His storage bag was already full so he could only carry it with him. The rabbit was over 70 pounds, but it weighed almost nothing to a cultivator like him.

"Do you want to search for more prey?" Larry asked.

Mark shook his head and replied. "No. This is already enough. Besides, we have already strayed far from the camp. The others might be worried if we're gone for too long."

After making a decision, the two returned to the camp. When they arrived, Larry told him that he would take a short rest. Mark bid him farewell and looked for a spot to prepare the rabbit meat. He still had to remove the rabbit's skin.

With his recent experience in skinning the Black Scaled Boar, it didn't take him long to skin the rabbit. "What should I do with this fur?" He muttered to himself. There was no space left in his storage bag, but he felt that it was a pity to discard the rabbit fur. Although its value was less than 100 Orbes, he still wanted to keep it.

Suddenly, a series of footsteps interrupted his thoughts. He raised his head and saw Max walking towards him. "What are you doing, Wolf?" He asked while looking curiously at Mark.

Mark showed him the fur of the Red-Eyed Rabbit and said. "I hunted this rabbit earlier, but I can't bring its fur with me. I don't want to throw it away."

"I see. Can you show it to me?"

"Of course." Mark handed the fur to him.

"You did well in peeling this off, but it still needs to be cleaned properly to remove the foul smell. If you want, I can help you make a scabbard using this fur." Max said.

"You want to make a scabbard for me?" Mark was stunned.

"Yes." Max nodded with a smile. "If not for your help back then, I would have been seriously injured by those Green Wolves. Please let me do this for you."

Mark stared at his earnest expression and he couldn't bring himself to reject him. Besides, he also needed a scabbard for his sword. "But… will that be enough to make a scabbard?" He asked.

Max smiled as he replied. "Don't worry. I have some materials with me that I can make use of."

"Alright. Please make a scabbard for me." Mark cupped his fists with a serious gaze.

"Leave it to me." Max patted his chest confidently. "Before I start, can you show me your sword for reference?"

"Sure!" Mark agreed without hesitation. He then grabbed his sword and handed it to Max.

"Thanks." Max took the sword and studied it with a stern gaze.

"It's just a common sword. I can't afford to buy a new one at this moment." Mark said while scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.

"It's fine. Although this is just an ordinary sword, it is well-made. You can make use of this until you are a Third Level Body Strengthening cultivator. Anyway, do you want to watch me make the scabbard?"

Mark had nothing else to do so he nodded his head. "Yes, if that's possible."

"Of course. I don't have any secret methods so it's not a problem." Max smiled at him.

"Great!"

Max brought him to his tent. The guy's tent was bigger than most hunters and he also had a lot of items in his tent. This made Mark surprised. He thought that Max was just a newbie hunter, but it seemed like there was something more to this guy.

"I always bring my materials with me. It is a habit of mine that I learned from my father who is a blacksmith." Max said when he saw Mark staring at the materials inside his tent.

"Are you also a blacksmith by any chance?" Mark asked.

Max shook his head and smiled. "I'm still an apprentice, but my standards are already close to that of a Bronze Rank Blacksmith."

Mark stared at him in amazement. It turned out this guy was more awesome than he had thought. From what he knew, Bronze Rank Blacksmiths were capable of making Uncommon Weapons which are one level above Ordinary Weapons. Although there is only a difference of one rank between these two, Uncommon Weapons are superior since they can handle more Qi than Ordinary Weapons.

Mark gave him a thumbs up.

Seeing this, Max chuckled and said. "Let's begin. You can grab a stool if you want."

"Alright."

Max grabbed a small stool and took his seat. He then sorted the materials that he would be using.

Mark was surprised when he saw the materials. "Wait! Are you planning to use the Green Wolf's fur and Blood Crystal as materials to make the scabbard?"

Max raised his head and grinned. "That's right!"

Mark couldn't believe his ears. The Red-Eyed Rabbit's fur wasn't that valuable, but the Green Wolf's fur and Blood Crystal were different. According to Kevin, the Blood Crystal was worth 100 Crystal, while the Green Wolf's fur was of the same value, if not more.

Mark wanted to say something, but Max had already started.

First, he began by cleaning the hide of the rabbit and wolf using a dampened white cloth. After doing this, he gently brushed the hide of both animals to remove the excess fat and blood.

In the first 30 minutes, Max had to clean the hides of both animals.

For the body of the scabbard, he used a thick piece of red oak wood and cut it using a unique-looking saw. He then polished the cut pieces and glued them together using a special substance.

Mark didn't feel bored as he watched the entire process. This was the first time he had seen someone make a scabbard and it was surprisingly fun. He felt like he was a kid who was watching an adult mixing gravel with sand and cement.
