'This is fate, I guess.'
Without uttering a word, Vyrtalis rose from his seat and exited the room.
Seeing him go away, his mother didn't say anything, knowing he needed time to himself to gather his thoughts. She understood that he wouldn't react much, having not seen what core bearers were capable of.
As the years passed, Vyrtalis reached the age of 23. In these years, nothing extraordinary had happened to him—or so his mother believed.
Many things occurred in these 11 years that Vyrtalis chose not to share with his mother—the knowledge he gained and the place that enlightened him about it.
He couldn't tell his mother.
She kept him here to ensure his safety, or whatever the reason was, but he respected her decision.
"I'm going out, Mom!" Vyrtalis shouted as he left the home once again.
Seeing him leave, his mother couldn't help but sigh. This had started seven years ago when Vyrtalis began regularly exploring the forest.
She told him how it was dangerous to go out alone, but he didn't listen and kept doing it. Thinking of it as him growing up and becoming rebellious, she didn't say anything either.
But now, seven years later, he was still doing it, and she didn't know what was happening with him.
Vyrtalis could be seen moving through the forest at a pace that shouldn't have been possible for a normal human. But then again, was Vyrtalis a normal human? Only time would tell.
As he continued running in one direction, he couldn't help but notice how the environment around him had remained unchanged for so many years.
He had been taking this route for so many years now, and yet nothing seemed to have changed. Not paying much attention to it, Vyrtalis soon arrived near a small lake filled with silver water.
The water wasn't silver due to the sunlight or anything; the water itself had a silver hue, and that was just one of the mysteries he found in this place.
As Vyrtalis reached the lake's bank, he undressed and plunged into the cold water. The frigid temperature caused goosebumps to appear on his skin, but this had become a routine for him, and he was accustomed to it by now.
Submerging himself in the lake's deep, night-like waters, Vyrtalis swam towards an inconspicuous rock on the side. Upon holding the rock in his palm, it began to emit a radiant glow and unfolded.
In the hollow of the rock, he found a simple-looking silver key that he had crafted. Retrieving the key, Vyrtalis continued diving until he reached the lake's bottom.
Beyond the door lay a realm of secrets and mysteries that only Vyrtalis was privy to, despite the unremarkable appearance of the dark blue door that had become so familiar to him over the years.
Vyrtalis stepped through the door, and as it closed behind him, the bluish light enveloped him, plunging him into an otherworldly darkness.
"You've seen enough for now. You can't go there anymore," a voice echoed, startling Adrian awake as he gasped for air.
Adrian's complexion darkened further, resembling a shade of purple, as if the breath had been choked out of him.
'WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?'
Taking a deep breath, Adrian gathered his bearings and looked around, realizing that the vivid dream he experienced was just that—a dream. The radiant tree still stood before him in the daylight, casting its enchanting glow.
The difference was that it wasn't a glowing one in the dream.
'Was I dreaming? Was everything that happened to me a dream?'
Adrian sat there, grappling with the surreal experience of living an entire lifetime in a dream. The emotions, memories, and struggles felt so real that it took him a moment to fully comprehend that it was nothing more than an illusion created by the mysterious tree. The weight of the dream lingered in his mind, leaving him in contemplation.
The dream felt so real to be just a dream.
Adrian surveyed his surroundings, recognizing the familiar landscapes that symbolized his growth in that dream. Amidst the realization, he spotted the heels standing nearby.
'How could I forget about them?'
The realization struck Adrian that he hadn't paid much attention to the heels when he approached the tree.
Adrian rose from his spot and observed his surroundings, everything feeling strikingly real to him.
'Where's mom? No where's that women now and where's that hut?'
Adrian's gaze scanned the area, but the familiar hut from his dream was nowhere to be found, leaving him with a sense of longing.
He didn't like it.
Adrian hesitated to pick up the enticing red fruit, unsure whether his deep sleep was a result of its effects or simply due to exhaustion.
"Let's go. We have to go somewhere."
Adrian said, as he didn't look back to see if the heels were following him or not.
Walking away from the glowing tree, Adrian started his journey to explore the surroundings and find out the truth about the dream-like experience he had. The heels followed silently, their presence almost comforting to him in this strange place.
The landscape seemed familiar, as if a blend of reality and dream, and Adrian couldn't shake off the feeling that something profound had happened to him during those 23 years in the dream.
Adrian couldn't shake off the mystery of the voice that disrupted his dream. It echoed in his mind, leaving him curious about its origin.
As he walked towards the lake, he noticed that the surroundings remained unchanged, just like they had in his dream.
'Where have I heard the name Vyrtalis?'
As Adrian continued running, a name echoed in his mind—a name that seemed familiar but elusive. He couldn't pinpoint where he had encountered it before.
The absence of monsters during his run added to the uncertainty, mirroring the similarities between his current reality and the dream he had experienced. The boundaries between the two worlds seemed blurred, leaving Adrian perplexed about the nature of this place.
'But it can't be true.'
He had heard the noises from afar when he was on his way to the south.
The scarcity of monsters led Adrian to consider two possibilities: either there were fewer monsters than he initially thought, or a more ominous idea, albeit a seemingly plausible one, lingered in his mind.
The presence of some force repelling the monsters from this place unnerved Adrian, a situation he found challenging to comprehend.
The notion suggested the lurking presence of something ominous in the vicinity, making Adrian up his guard.
In the realm of dreams, where illusions sway,
Exiting brings a gasp at the break of day.
Reality whispers, a breath we reclaim,
From the dream's embrace, we emerge, untamed.
