Chapitre 52: The Tower

Alan inquired, "Have you heard anything from Adrian yet?" It had been over a month since Adrian went on vacation, and there had been no word from him.

Alan attempted to contact Adrian, but he received no response. His concern for Adrian grew, especially since he was aware that Adrian didn't have any close family and had been living alone for four years. Alan attempted to contact Adrian, but he received no response.

His concern for Adrian grew, especially since he was aware that Adrian didn't have any close family and had been living alone for four years.

Selena replied with a worried tone, "No, there's still no response from him. I visited his home a few days ago, and it was empty, so it seems like he hasn't returned yet." She got up and picked up her jacket, preparing to head home.

As Alan continued to sift through the files, he came across information about a garage filled with various machines and broken containers. This discovery reminded him of a case from two months ago involving the kidnapping of children.

Alan flipped through more files and came across the case of Katharine. Based on Adrian's observations, he believed that she had played a role in her husband's death. Now, with the information in front of him, Alan grew more convinced, especially since Katharine had sold off her properties and had gone missing.

Alan then reviewed the file of the murder case that had occurred right before Adrian's departure, in which Adrian was considered a suspect. He had faced significant backlash for allowing Adrian to leave, and the criticism seemed justified in light of these unresolved cases.

Alan couldn't help but hope that Adrian was safe and would return soon, as many cases required his unique insights and expertise. The unresolved cases were piling up, and they needed Adrian's brilliant mind to help solve them.

.....

"I'm not convinced it's effective. In the past, when I entered the dream realm, it took time for our cores to replenish, but they eventually did. However, this time, I haven't noticed any significant improvement, even though a whole month has passed."

Feeling the weight of their ordeals, Emilie couldn't bear it any longer. They had faced horrific abominations that nearly cost both her and Adrian their lives. Her concern for Adrian weighed heavily on her mind, fearing that the next abomination they encountered might not be as forgiving.

The last creature they encountered could be described as an illusionist. It created illusions that almost drove Adrian to the brink of suicide. Fortunately, Emilie managed to dispel the effects of the illusions, earning her his gratitude.

Listening to Emilie's tired and resentful voice, Adrian couldn't help but laugh. He was truly enjoying the adventure they were having. This was what he was meant to be doing in his life, not solving mundane murder cases.

Currently, Adrian and Emilie were embarking on a thrilling expedition, as per him, through a scorching desert in their sturdy Jeep, the backseat brimming with a colorful array of fruits.

They chanced upon these fruits when they were running from an abomination, and as Adrian was dying of hunger, he couldn't care less about them being poisonous. It was a desperate move prompted by Adrian's ravenous hunger, but it paid off as this was the only edible thing they could find.

As they journeyed deeper into the desert, they encountered a surreal menagerie of creatures, each possessing uncanny and otherworldly abilities. Some seemed to blend with the shifting sands, camouflaging themselves seamlessly, while others exhibited astonishing agility, darting across the dunes with breathtaking speed.

Emilie's unique gift as a dream diver allowed her to sense the presence of these mysterious beings, the only reason they were alive till now. but their elusive nature and extraordinary abilities left them with no option but to hide in the Jeep, slowing down their expedition considerably.

Adrian was perplexed by the ever-changing landscape of the dream realm. "I still don't understand how there is a desert here. There is no desert outside the city in real life. Care to explain how this all works?"

He asked Emilie, hoping for some clarity on the matter. The dream realm seemed to morph unpredictably, shifting from an exact copy of the real world to entirely new environments.

Emilie pondered for a moment and then explained, "Basically, the dream realm expands based on dreams. Whatever humans or even our kind are dreaming about out there becomes a reality in this realm." She tried to make sense of the dream realm's mysterious nature.

Adrian felt a shiver down his spine as he processed this information. It was indeed a strange concept. If someone out there dreamed about dragons, they would start existing in this realm.

This revelation explained why every creature and even the fruits looked so peculiar here. The dream realm was like a manifestation of collective dreams and thoughts.

"So, what's our plan now? Are we supposed to keep going?" asked Emilie, her tone lacking hope for their destination.

Adrian responded, "You see, Alaya is not normal. She probably knew something about this compass or where this leads. We should test it out as we don't have anything better to do anyway." He then turned up the music. This was the dream realm, and anything was possible here.

'Their journey was not going to be simple'—Adrian's luck ensured that, and this belief soon proved to be absolutely correct. Just as they trekked over another undulating mound of golden sands, an unexpected sight emerged on the horizon, capturing their attention and leaving them in awe.

Rising from the desert's vast expanse, there stood a gleaming white tower, its towering presence seemingly out of place in this desolate, sun-scorched wilderness. It beckoned to them, a beacon of intrigue amidst the arid sea of sand, promising secrets and mysteries yet to be unveiled.

The mystical white tower loomed majestically over the desert landscape, its radiant facade glistening under the relentless sun. Its architecture was a fusion of the ethereal and the surreal, an enigmatic masterpiece that defied the surrounding barrenness.

The tower's smooth, pearl-white walls seemed to emit a soft, otherworldly luminescence, as if it held the very essence of the desert's radiant energy within. Tall, narrow windows punctuated its surface, their designs intricate and ancient, suggesting a history shrouded in mystery.

Vines and ivy, in stark contrast to the arid landscape, clung to the tower's walls, forming a natural, verdant tapestry that seemed to defy the harsh desert conditions.

At its peak, a dome of alabaster radiated an almost ethereal glow, hinting at the presence of something extraordinary within. As they approached, a sense of both anticipation and trepidation filled the air, for the white tower held secrets that begged to be discovered, promising a journey into realms of wonder and enchantment.

Adrian and Emilie stepped out of their Jeep, a bag filled with an assortment of fruits in tow, and made their way toward the grand entrance of the towering white structure. The fruits' vibrant colors offered a stark contrast to the tower's luminous exterior.

The door of the mystical white tower was a remarkable piece of craftsmanship, intriguing and mysterious in its own right. It was a grand, weathered door, standing tall and imposing against the backdrop of the gleaming tower.

Carved from ancient, luminescent stone, the door's surface bore the marks of time, etched with intricate patterns and symbols. Vines and ivy had crept up its sides, weaving a natural tapestry that contrasted with the stark desert surroundings. The stone's cool, smooth texture hinted at the centuries it had weathered, standing guard over the tower's secrets.

In the center of the door, a circular emblem portrayed a mythical creature, part-human and part-beast, encircled by enigmatic symbols. This artwork appeared to tell the story of the tower's history and its ties to the mystical.

Adrian called out to Emilie, "Hey, Emilie, come look here. There's something written here," as he pointed to the right lower end of the door.

Emilie came beside him and looked at where Adrian was pointing. There, in some scratchings, a line was written that somehow gave them both a very eerie feeling deep in their souls.

"In time's elusive grasp, an illusion spun,

Not eternal, not as it's often won.

Know this, in this temporal flow so sheer,

I lingered, Vyrtalis, the Veilweaver, here."

They read aloud, their voices echoing through the dream realm.

Just as they did, a loud boom sounded, and the pristine door began to creak open.

L’AVIS DES CRÉATEURS
samandridaku samandridaku

In the shadows, where secrets silently dance,

The Veilweaver weaves her enigmatic trance.

With threads of moonlight, she crafts the night's song,

A melody of mysteries, both ancient and long.

Through veils she guides, a spectral art,

In her hands, the unknown finds its start.
