Everyone felt a little moved by Shikong's determination to investigate the cave where he confronted his inner demons, thinking it as somewhat noble and self-sacrificing.
Shikong gave a bitter laugh, saying, "I was truly scared at that time, and I really wished to walk away and never come back to this place. But in the end, I recalled my master's advice, recognizing that encountering and overcoming personal demons is also a part of spiritual cultivation."
Richard added with affirmation: "Quite insightful indeed."
After briefly acknowledging Richard's comment with a nod, Shikong continued his remembrance: "This time, I was fully prepared and even kept chanting Buddha's name as I entered the cave. When I reached the place where I saw the Buddha statue before, I realized… Li Wancheng and every one had disappeared."
