Chapitre 108: Chapter 107: Mom and Son
Ken lay on a comfortable bed in a small, tidy room, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. The room was dimly lit, the only light coming from a small lamp on a bedside table. He looked peaceful, his face relaxed in sleep. Sometimes his expression changed to one of excitement. He even mumbled in his sleep.
"Ice Release: Ice Age.... Take that you assholes. Freeze to death Hahahaha" A maniac laughter escaped him.
Hanako, Ken's mother who watched her son's sleeping antics could not help but smile.
"No one would call him the Leaf's demon who burns everything in his path after seeing this." She could not help but pinch his cheeks at his cuteness.
Her expression changed to a frown after a few seconds "But who the hell has taught him to curse? And what was he thinking of using all his chakra in just a spar with his grandpa? No this can't go on forever. Shinsuke and Dad are only pampering him. Someone needs to discipline him and sadly that has to be me."
Her fingers that were softly pinching her son's cheeks started applying more force as Ken woke up with a yelp.
"Oww" Ken looked around him to find the culprit that broke him from such a good dream.
"Who is the bast..... Mom!!?" Ken's words halted as he saw his mom glaring at him.
"What were you doing right now?" Hanako asked with a glare as Ken who was still sleepy did not see it and answered without thinking much.
"I was dreaming about freezing my enemies to death. Oh, that's right, I can now start learning ice release. Yahooo, You should have seen me, Mom, kicking Grandpa's ass. Oh, is he even alive? I remember smashing him with my super strong Rasengan." Ken excitedly said
"Shut up, I meant why were you cursing in your sleep? Who taught you to say such bad words? Tell me!" She demanded an answer from Ken who knew that he would have to sacrifice someone to save himself. He can't just say that he got it from his memories from previous life.
"It was Uncle Shikaku. He always says such words whenever he feels lazy."
"Shikaku huh, I would have to pay Yoshino a visit and tell her about her husband's antics, it seems," Hanako said
'Rest in Peace, Uncle Shikaku, I hope you stay alive since Leaf needs a strategist like you in the near future.' Ken prayed for the lazy Nara's safety in his mind.
"And What is this about smashing your grandpa with a Rasengan and training ice release?"
"Oh, Me and Grandpa had a spar. He promised that if I impressed him enough, he would give me permission to train water release and wind release and then eventually ice release. I hit him with a giant Rasengan that smashed him through a lot of concrete. It should have at least broken some of his bones. Is not that impressive enough to break the bones of the Hokage?"
"Ah yes now that you mention the spar, what were you thinking by using so much chakra? You suffered from chakra exhaustion as a result. Do you think it's a joke? You could have suffered from loss of vitality or worse died. Then there is the fact that..." Hanako kept on lecturing Ken who tried to maintain a sorry expression on his face while inwardly he thought about how much his mom was exaggerating things.
'Die from Chakra exhaustion? Lady, most of the shinobi would then be killed because of it as in life and death situations no one keeps count of how much chakra one uses. But well, I used all my chakra in a friendly spar so I might be guilty.' Something that Hanako said caught Ken's attention
"You might be delusional to think that you might have injured your grandpa. He went back to his office as soon as your spar was over. He looked completely fine to me except for some damage to his robe."
'What? Did he put me under a genjutsu? Was I under an illusion? I am pretty sure that I hit him, there is no way that he came unscathed from a direct hit by a giant Rasengan. Maybe he used some cool jutsu that he had been hiding, I need to know about it.' Ken thought confused but straightened up wanting to immediately start training for ice release.
"What do you think you are doing young man?" Hanako glared at him
"Uh, Going to look for grandpa to get water and wind jutsus?" Ken replied
"No, You are not. Your health is the most important thing. You pushed yourself too hard yesterday. And now you need to rest and regain your strength. The Iryō nin had specified two days of complete rest with no chakra usage. So no arguments!" Hanako commanded
"Two days? I feel fit as my sixty-year-old gramps." Ken refuted but all he got was a glare and then his stomach grumbled.
He looked embarrassingly at his mom who had
already prepared a light meal for him, knowing that he would be hungry when he woke up. The smell of warm soup filled the room, making Ken's stomach growl in anticipation.
As he ate, Ken thought about his training and how eager he was to get back to it. But he knew that the Iryô Nin was right. He needed to rest and recover fully before he could continue.
"Thank you, Mom," Ken said, setting the empty bowl aside. "I'll rest for now. But I promise, I'll be back to training soon."
Hankao smiled, patting his hand "I know you will, Ken-chan. But for now, just focus on getting better. Your training can wait. If I see you training within the next two days then you would not be getting any sweets for the next two years."
