Chapitre 35: Rumbling Seas

While Laima and Belenus engaged in battle outside, Leon and Triss found themselves within the king's suit.

It wasn't that they didn't want to draw closer to the battlefield, witnessing whatever unfolded on the shores. Primarily, it was Triss who desired to get closer. However, for various reasons, they couldn't remain there. Additionally, thanks to William, the necessity of approaching the battleground had been eliminated.

"Whooo! Beat him up, Belenus!"

"Stop screaming. He can't hear you anyway."

"Why don't you support them!?"

"Can't you hear me? They can't hear us."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. But I'll keep on supporting my friends."

"Do it quietly," taking a sip of lemonade.

Hologram televisions retained the same design as those of regular televisions from a hundred years ago. However, they possessed the functionality of unfolding the entire scene right before the watcher's eyes.

In fact, a specific hologram television set had the capability to transform the entire room in accordance with whatever the person was watching.

For instance, if a person were to watch regular news, they would be seated in a place resembling a talk show audience seat, able to see the studio live. However, the television channel in question also had to support this function for it to work.

Their king's suit also housed that expensive type of television. Yet, what they were currently watching was different. It was a creation that had never existed in that place until William conceptualized it. This one was ordinary, no different from the television Leon had in his home before.

Nevertheless, it could display the entire battlefield, thanks to the device it was connected to. The concept was relatively straightforward, not much different from the old camera systems.

Given that the battlefield's location had already been determined, William could position rectangular cameras throughout the roof, all facing the battlefield. The high-tech component was the camera's lens. These specialized lenses served as the source for the live holographic display.

Lastly, connecting it to the hologram television was no different from using a wireless connection. However, it didn't use the internet but something more akin to an intranet. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any purpose in bringing a different television all the way here. After all, these things had to be destroyed.

Thanks to William's generosity, the two kids could watch the entire spectacle as if watching a movie, with drinks and snacks on hand to enhance the experience. But that wasn't all. Masks, knives, and even swords were also present in the room, positioned closer to the door.

They had to be prepared for unforeseen situations, after all.

And they weren't alone. One more being was present to accompany them, just in case.

It was neither human nor humanoid.

An animal. Specifically, a blood-red cat that William had left behind, taking a few things into consideration. Simultaneously, hoping that the peacefully napping cat in the corner of the room wouldn't have to be awakened.

"Wooow!"

"Now, that was great."

The scene being reflected in the room was Belenus's fight, not Laima's. Unlike Belenus's side, where everything should be decided by one's physical and magical power, Laima's side demanded more caution for both her and the guards.

Everyone in the world knows that all octopuses are venomous animals. Although only a handful of them possess poison that can harm a human, they still pose a considerable threat. This is especially true if the person is a Merman or Mermaid.

Ordinary animals, those not deemed as monsters, cannot use universal energy arts. However, the others have that capability.

Universal energy arts serve as the backbone for many abilities. In Laima's situation, or for any other Merpeople type that has poison as a racial trait, the poisonous side becomes their greatest ally. And this is all thanks to the energy they possess.

Universal energy arts are the reason their poison can be a challenge for anyone. After all, the potency of their poison is enhanced by their core energy. To the extent that if someone has a non-fatal poison as their animalistic trait, that non-fatal aspect gradually diminishes with every bit of power they acquire through universal energy arts training.

If someone from the Merpeople race possesses innate poison and is above Level 2, it means their poison is fatal. Of course, individuals from other races also develop immunity to poison with each level.

However, their immunity only reaches a certain extent. If someone were to be exposed to it too frequently in a short period, even their energy might not help them get rid of it.

For these reasons, the battlefield remained in a constant stare-down state for about thirty seconds.

However, luck was on Laima's side. Her enemies had distinctive features. Only the stingray one was challenging to identify.

'Goldfish, dolphin, and catfish. The only problematic ones are the tailed one and the catfish. I have to be careful of that tail and the catfish one's right hand. I doubt he can use that dorsal spine.'

The catfish guard held a sword in left hand while the right hand was in the state of a pectoral spine. The dolphin was in the middle, wielding a spear similar to the goldfish one.

On the other hand, the stingray was at the forefront with her sword and shield. Unlike others, she had to lure her enemy in to stab with that poisonous tail of hers. For that, it was only prudent for her to utilize close combat weapons.

"Sigh…"

"If you're thinking of surrendering, now would be the perfect time," the dolphin-type Merman stated, his voice unaffected by the transformation.

"I thought dolphins were supposed to be smart."

"Heh, I am smart."

"I'm not so sure about that. Well, I've heard a few things about dolphins' pervert side," sneered, "You know what I mean?"

As he immediately comprehended that she was referring to dolphins as animals and their mischievous deeds, a clear redness of rage and shame appeared on his face.

Then, that rage of his manifested into a water ball on the tip of his spear.

"Do I look like an animal to you!?"

"You do."

Swuuush!

"Nice aim there," her mocking grin still present; it was the only expression visible through her mask, "If you're aiming for your Goddess, that is."

Through gritted teeth, he spoke slowly, "First of all, don't let her graceful name touch your filthy mouth," the catfish guard warned. "Secondly and lastly, she is everyone's Goddess!"

Fwuuushh!!

The moment his words concluded, he rushed toward Laima at full speed while creating waves at his backside.

'So, that's how you'll use your dorsal, huh? Well, there wasn't any other way, anyway.'

Thankfully, she had already created a distance between them the moment they jumped into the sea. Dodging the oncoming attack, which was no different from the body tackle of a humongous fish, proved to be a relatively easy task for her.

Fwuuup!

The waves grew higher and higher above the water, rushing at Laima's dodging path to demonstrate the might of the seas, which belonged to the guards—those who lived for the Goddess.

Splaash!!

Splashing water created an artificial rain, and a squall mercilessly showered her.

"Hah, now that was something…"

"Isn't it? Hahaha," laughed so, the stingray guard.

Whether the catfish was someone driven by emotions or a strategic thinker creating opportunities for his comrades was uncertain. Regardless, the latter seemed to be the case this time. The catfish's position was on the left of the battle formation, and he rushed from there in a diagonal direction.

Observing him rushing, the stingray guard promptly covered her sword, biding her time for the golden opportunity. Laima's dodge presented itself as that golden chance, and she didn't let it slip away from under her nose.

A confident smile, more like a grin, appeared on her face the moment she proudly shot out a wave of water magic through her sword, starting from below and rising diagonally to the skies.

Poott!!

And bullseye.

"Still, you didn't think this much would make any difference, did you?" raised her left hand, which was filled with tentacles.

A tiny cut, so small that it couldn't be seen unless you focused on it, was there on one tentacle of hers.

"You are a Level 4, aren't you?" Her head was proudly held high, "That tiny wound of yours will turn into something as significant as your life," her grin widened as much as it could, "I'll show you that being a Level 4 won't save you."

Neither the words of the stingray guard nor the wound made her stagger with fear. Instead, everything that unfolded only made her smile more and more, causing the guards to view her as a woman on the edge of madness.

Still, she wouldn't give a damn about their perspective, as she had achieved what she wanted. The crucial thing that she needed to confirm first had presented itself on a golden plate.

'So, this idiot is a Level 3. That catfish must also be a Level 3. He was quite slow for a Level 4. Still, I shouldn't drop my guard and should treat them as if they are Level 4. Well, if they turn out to be Level 3, things would be easier on my end.'

Her smile, brought on by her thoughts, could be interpreted differently by the other side.

"Are you mocking me right now!?"

'Unexpected outcome, but a nice one, so to speak.'

"I am. So, what can you do with your tiny a*s power?"

"F*ck you, b*tch!"

Buuuum!!

---

In a distant galaxy.

"Thor."

"Seth."
