Chapitre 636: Chapter 636: Moving Office!

On South Botai Street, right across from the iconic Disney Studios, the bustle of moving day filled the air. Trucks lined the curb, their cargo doors wide open as workers, mostly Mexicans, unloaded crates and equipment into the newly christened Davis Film and Television Production Studio.

The gleaming copper nameplate on the building's entrance announced the arrival of Martin's venture in bold characters. Leaving behind the confines of Warner Studios, Martin's decision to make Disney his new home was strategic, and as he stood in the airy confines of his fourth-floor office, he could almost taste the promise of fresh beginnings.

"Boss, the safe's here," Jessica announced, accompanied by a team of workers pushing a hefty trolley.

Martin motioned them in, directing them to a corner he'd earmarked for the secure storage. "Just there will do," he instructed, a sense of satisfaction creeping into his voice as the safe found its place.

As the workers busied themselves, Martin couldn't help but notice their curious glances at his desk piled high with scripts. These seasoned hands, veterans of Hollywood's hustle, could spot a screenplay a mile away.

Once the last crate was in place, Martin turned to Jessica. "Nearly done?"

She nodded, her expression a mix of relief and exhaustion. "All set for tomorrow."

"Back to business as usual then," Martin declared, sounding every bit the seasoned entrepreneur.

Outside, the clatter of equipment being loaded onto trucks filled the air, gradually fading as they departed one by one. Inside one van, a hushed conversation unfolded among four Mexican workers.

"Boss, that safe must be holding something valuable," one ventured, eyeing the building they just left.

But their boss shook his head. "Diego, we're in legitimate business here," he asserted firmly, squashing any wild speculation.

Diego, his neck tattoo peeking out from under his collar, grumbled, "It's slow going, though. Maybe we should..."

"We've come to the States for a reason," De Paul interjected, his voice tinged with resignation. "But it seems like hard work follows us wherever we go."

Their boss, Lou Driggs, leaned forward, his tone conspiratorial. "Martin Davis runs this show. He's got LAPD in his pocket, they say."

Diego scoffed, "Back in Mexico, we owned mayors!"

But Romero, behind the wheel, silenced them with a sharp command. "Enough. We're in LA now, playing with LAPD's fire isn't worth it."

Rodriguez, quietly observant, added a sobering note. "You're new here, Diego. LAPD's no joke. Cross them, and you'll be outgunned before you know it."

Diego and Romero lapsed into silence, the weight of Rodriguez's words hanging heavy in the air.

Rodriguez chimed in with a grim observation, "You know, security in LA isn't exactly top-notch. Stashing something too valuable in that office safe might just be an open invitation to thieves."

Romero, still behind the wheel, added his own revelation, "I noticed something interesting on Martin Davis' desk when I was leaving."

"Yeah, those were scripts," confirmed Rodriguez, turning his gaze to Diego and DePaul. "Listen up, fellas, I'm about to school you on how to make a tidy profit without breaking a sweat."

Diego and DePaul leaned in eagerly, ready for a lesson in Hollywood hustling.

"Martin Davis has a knack for picking winners," Rodriguez continued. "People in the industry are always itching to know what projects he's eyeing next."

DePaul caught on quickly, "So, those scripts..."

"Exactly," Rodriguez affirmed, glancing at the road ahead. "You've got connections in Hollywood, Romero. Let's spread the word that we've got the inside scoop on Martin Davis' projects."

Romero hesitated, "But all we've seen are the scripts..."

Rodriguez, though seemingly straightforward, had a cunning edge. "Where there's a will, there's a way to profit. We'll figure out the rest."

Nodding in agreement, Romero promised, "I'll handle it this afternoon."

Diego and DePaul volunteered, "We'll come with you."

Rodriguez shook his head, "No need. You guys need to learn to adapt to this environment. It's brains, not brawn, that'll make us money here."

"Got it," the two replied in unison.

Later, downtown LA buzzed with activity as Rodriguez scouted prime spots while the others spread the word.

Meanwhile, at Davis Studio, amidst the flurry of scripts flooding in, Martin sifted through the pile, each page a potential goldmine or dud.

Over the years, the influx of scripts had dwindled in quality. Hollywood was drowning in a sea of mediocrity, with only a select few gems emerging from the deluge.

Martin knew the statistics all too well – hundreds of thousands of scripts poured in annually, but only a fraction would ever see the light of day.

Yet, he remained vigilant, always on the lookout for the next big thing. The Hollywood blacklist, famed for launching hits like "Juno," was a beacon of hope amid the sea of mediocrity.

Among the latest batch, Martin's discerning eye sifted through familiar tropes and tired narratives until one title caught his attention – " Transcendence." Memories of the film, starring Johnny Depp, flashed through his mind.

But recent disappointments with Depp's post-"Pirates" endeavors gave him pause. With a sigh, he set the script aside, narrowing down his selections to just a precious few.

Martin pondered for a moment, unsure of where to slot the script into his bustling studio life. Ultimately, he decided to stow it away in the safe for safekeeping.

Just as he settled back into his desk, the phone trilled its familiar tune, and Martin picked up to the voice of Mia on the other end, beckoning him over.

Since joining Davis Studio and inking a creative pact, Mia had been toiling away, refining scripts under Martin's discerning eye.

As Martin ascended to the second floor, where Mia and her boyfriend Sebastian had set up shop, anticipation hummed in the air.

Handing Martin a fresh manuscript, Mia explained, "I've given the script another once-over."

Martin's previous dissatisfaction with the script had centered on its ending – a cliché, fairytale finale that felt out of place amidst the gritty realism of Hollywood.

The discussion turned to the revised ending, Mia seeking Martin's approval. This time, the heroine's path diverged from the traditional narrative, opting for a more nuanced resolution.

"This ending works," Martin affirmed, the weight of his approval evident.

Sebastian, ever the musical maestro, chimed in, "I've composed a piece to accompany the finale."

Martin nodded, intrigued, as Sebastian settled behind the piano, fingers dancing across the keys.

The melody that filled the room was bittersweet, tinged with melancholy yet imbued with a sense of hope – a perfect reflection of the script's newfound depth.

Impressed, Martin mused inwardly, realizing his growing appreciation for music owed much to the likes of Taylor Swift and her ilk.

As Sebastian finished, Martin assured him, "We'll need to collaborate with Disney for the choreography and lyrics. They're experts in this field."

Relieved, Sebastian pledged to continue crafting the soundtrack while Martin returned the script to Mia, urging her to finesse it further with Brad's input.

As Martin exited the studio, his phone buzzed to life, revealing a call from Jolie and Aniston – a welcome distraction from the creative whirlwind that awaited him.
