Selena’s POV

I was driving alone on the road from Maline to the Red Moon Pack. The sun glowed like a golden spot on the ridge, but the whole mountain was in shadow, rising in silence, pressing ever closer against the world before me.

That's Red Rock Hill, the legendary site of the moonstone mine.

Moonstone, Moonstone again. My life was suddenly invaded by this fabled ghost, and became something I didn't even know.

Even my wolf, Claire, told me that she thought the moonstone scared her.

My mind went back to the night of Madelyn and Billy's engagement party. It was near the end of the party, and I was out on the patio getting some fresh air, joking with Madelyn when I got a call from Stella.

Before that, she had called me a lot. Because the bar is very noisy, I did not receive them.

"Hey, Stella, what's up?"

I sounded relaxed at the time. I look forward to hearing Stella call my name with her usual energy.
