Kayla’s POV
On Saturday night, as the bright car headlights flashed by the window, I immediately recognized Nathan's silver sports car parked downstairs.
I glanced at the clock and realized it was 9:10 and I was late.
I quickly fastened the necklace around my neck, grabbed my handbag, and hurriedly left my home.
"Sorry, Daisy was in high spirits today, and it took me a while to put her to sleep," I said as I opened the car door and took the passenger seat, looking at Nathan anxiously.
"I hope I haven't delayed you for the gala."
"No worries," Nathan said with a smile, leaning towards me as his upper body moved closer. I was about to move away, but Nathan's hands were already around my neck, and his slender fingers readjusted the necklace around my neck.
"Now, everything is perfect."
Nathan leaned back, looking at me with a satisfied smile, as if he were examining a rare gem.
"When the guests see you tonight, they'll understand that the wait was worth it."
