Chapitre 75: Chapter 75

 What a pity...

Watching the jellyfish explode and fall back into the water, Lin once again lost the opportunity to study levitation. It was impossible for her to return to the hot water to collect the jellyfish pieces.

Why would they commit suicide just because they were pierced? Lin could not understand these jellyfish. She did not know if they had brains. Now that the other jellyfish around had caught enough trilobites, they all drifted away. She did not know when she would meet them again.

Forget it, she continued climbing.

There were still some new arthropods crawling out of the sea, but there were fewer and fewer of them. This meant that the sea was getting hotter and hotter, and they died before they could climb out of the sea.

However, Lin did not feel any heat in the air. She did not know why.

When the day was about to end, the Leviathan finally climbed to the top of the cliff and officially entered the land of the north.

The land above the cliff was a wide and flat rocky ground. Further back were the huge spikes. Lin could now clearly see the long and bifurcated spikes. They were very densely packed. The shortest one was more than ten meters tall, and the tallest one was more than a hundred meters tall. They were all covered in green.

Could they be living creatures?

This thought only flashed through her mind for a moment. Compared to the spikes, Lin was now more concerned about the current situation of the open rocky ground.

The rocky ground was covered with water stains that had not yet dried, and there were fish carcasses everywhere. Most of them were helmeted fish, which had obviously been washed up by the tsunami. Lin's thirty-one surviving transporters were also scattered on the rocky ground.

There was a special smell here, which was produced by the carcasses. No matter what kind of creature it was, they usually had a lot of wild cells parasitizing them. These cells usually only ate some waste produced by the host, and once the host died, they would begin to decompose the host's cells that had lost their ability to resist. This process would produce a wonderful smell.

It seemed to be called 'decay'.

Decay would produce a considerable smell. The Bloondo scorpions that had climbed up first were attracted by the smell of the fish carcasses and were feasting on the delicious food everywhere. Therefore, Lin's transporters were not in danger at the moment. Lin's Leviathan could not move at the moment. It had to undergo some modifications first.

The Leviathan had to be modified to suit the size of the land. Some of its internal structures also had to be replaced. Because the bearing method was different from when it was climbing, the ends of the arthropods had to be thicker and larger to bear the Leviathan's weight.

After the transformation was completed, the Leviathan began to move towards the land. It needed to find the transporters and add accessories that could move them on land.

Soon, Leviathan approached the position of the first transporter. There was a little trouble here.

The carcass of a huge Dunkleosteus, about ten meters long, lay in front of Lin. A group of Blond Scorpions surrounded the carcass, using their pincers to tear at its flesh and skin. The transporter was right at the tail of the Dunkleosteus.

The scorpions ignored the transporter, probably because the smell of the dunkleosteus was too strong.

However, when Leviathan approached, the scorpions turned around one after another, raised their pincers, and shook their bodies, assuming a fighting posture. They did not want to attack, but only wanted to drive Leviathan away.

Lin ignored them. The Leviathan walked to the tail of the fish and began to create some 'accessories', which were actually a type of arthropods. Because the transporter's body was filled with nutrients, the outer shell could not be opened casually, otherwise, the contents inside would leak out. Therefore, Leviathan had to create them for them.

These 'accessories' had their own small circulatory system and could move without being connected to the body. The Leviathan applied a highly viscous crustaceous substance to the base of the six finished accessory arthropods and stuck them to the sides of the transporter's body. When the crustaceous substance hardened, the transporter was fitted with an eyeball.

Using this method of attaching legs, Lin could even make inanimate objects such as rocks move. However, the appendage itself couldn't maintain its function for too long, because most of its internal structure was made up of muscle and muscle, so it didn't store much nutrients.

The Leviathan left with the transporter. The scorpions that had been threatening Lin immediately turned around and continued to feast on the dunkleosteus carcasses, showing no interest in the Leviathan or the transporter.

The Leviathan and the transporter walked among the carcasses, looking for other transporters. There were quite a lot of fish here. Although there were quite a number of bloondu scorpions and some trilobites, there were so many fish here that they would not be able to finish it even if they ate for ten days and nights.

Lin noticed that some of the flesh-finned fishes were still alive, struggling desperately on the rocky ground. Once their gills were dehydrated, they would soon die as they could no longer breathe. Although bloondu scorpions also used gills, they seemed to have some other special structure that did not fear dehydration.

Lin had never killed a bloondu scorpion to study it, although she did not think it was necessary.

However, although there were water stains everywhere due to the tsunami, it was only a matter of time before the water was blown away by the wind. When that happened, there was no telling if the seawater would return to normal.

If the seawater was still abnormal, then they would have to live on land …

Lin soon found the second transporter. It was among the carcasses of the helmeted fishes. The carcasses were occupied by a kind of small trilobites. Although they were small, there were a lot of them.

Lin ignored them and brought the transporter out.

The rest of the search did not encounter any danger. Lin gathered all the transporters and gathered them on a spacious rocky ground without any corpses. So, what should I do next?

She wondered how the disaster was going.

Although there would not be any earthquakes for at least a few years, Lin was still worried about the fireballs. They were unpredictable, and she had no idea where they came from …

Things in the air were unpredictable … It would be great if she could catch those flying jellyfishes.

However, they were too good at escaping. They would even commit suicide if they were caught. It was very troublesome.

If she returned to the sea, she might encounter a lot of problems. Of course, there might be new problems on land. It was not as simple as being able to survive on land by resisting ultraviolet rays.

She decided to wait and see. Who knew if the seawater would return to normal …

Lin and many other transporters had been thrown into the depths of the land. They were probably in the forest of spires. Although they were all dead, she still had to look for them if she had the chance.

As night fell, Lin created some lanterns and placed them around the group to observe the situation and prevent any threats.

The wind of the night was accompanied by a long-lost chill. Lin had not felt this comfortable in a long time. In the distant sky, Lin saw countless lights streaking across the sky. Were those fireballs?

Lin then learned a new word, 'meteors.' Those meteors did not fly here.

If those meteors fell on land, it would be very dangerous … Thinking of this, Lin began to create some small units called testers. Their purpose was to jump off the cliff and test the temperature of the water.

From the information obtained by the testers, the water was still very hot. Although the temperature did not continue to rise, it was still very difficult to live in it …

Why was the air not hot? The temperature of the water should affect the air.

Although she did not know the reason, Lin felt that this was the best. If the air was hot, then no creature would be able to survive.

Lin looked at the meteors in the distance and silently waited for the night to pass …

The smell of rotting corpses permeated this vast area. This smell was the signal of food. However, Lin had plenty of nutrients now, so there was no need for her to compete with those scorpions for corpses in the dark.

Some creatures were disgusted by the smell of rotting corpses. This was because their cells were no match for the rotting fungi or could not resist the toxins produced by the rotting fungi. When they smelled a corpse, their cells would produce a substance. This substance would cause the brain to feel 'nausea' and prevent other creatures from approaching the corpse or eating it.

This was a very strange feeling. Their brains were unable to determine whether the corpse was edible or not. They needed the cells to produce the substance to disgust the brain so that they would not approach the corpse …

Why go through so much trouble? If they already knew the corpse was inedible, they could just not approach it. Why waste energy by producing nausea? Some creatures would even vomit out the undigested food due to the nausea.

Was there a need to be so wasteful?

After a hundred million years of observation, Lin had come to a conclusion … A normal creature's brain was a part of its' consciousness'. It did not know what the other cells in its body were thinking. Of course, the cells did not know what the consciousness was thinking. Therefore, the cells would produce some liquid substance or transfer some energy to cause various reactions to inform or control the consciousness. This would occasionally lead to some very stupid things, such as wasting a large amount of food by hiding from a rotting corpse.

How troublesome, this was a common problem for all creatures with brains.

Lin would occasionally have the idea of 'combining a brain to take a look', but she would immediately dismiss the idea as soon as she thought of this.

While Lin was having these somewhat boring thoughts, the night was about to pass. She could no longer see the meteors in the distance.

However, when the light of day descended, Lin noticed that her vision was even lower than when she was in the dark …

… … …
