Beth's POV
"Come to the forest now. The place where we saw the footprints yesterday..." I contacted Aaron through a mind link.
Then I told him about what happened, "I found Ben's body here. I think he was probably killed by the monster. I'll wait for you here. Hurry."
Hearing my words, Aaron agreed without hesitation.
Relieved by his positive reply, I stood still while keeping my distance from the hanging body and waiting anxiously for Aaron.
I felt uncomfortable by the sight in front of me, but I also knew that I shouldn't get too far away from Ben's body so that I wouldn’t miss anything again.
So I stood at a safe distance and constantly set my eyes on it. I didn’t want it to vanish into thin air again just like the footprints and hinder us from finding the right clues.
I looked around warily, fearing that the murderer was still lurking around.
All of a sudden, I heard scuffling footsteps and the hair on my neck stood up.
