"Hahahaha. So much for our little game... Oh, well, it was fun while it lasted." Vegeta said, announcing that neither he nor Nappa had been hurt by the blast that Krillin had sent their way.
"Surprise, Surprise, this is our favorite part, you know. You should see the looks on your faces." Vegeta gloated, the dust clearing around them. While I wasn't particularly surprised by this, since Krillin had split his blast between so many different targets, it was clearly a huge shock for everyone present. However, the bigger shock came next.
"Huh. I guess I really can't hurt you guys. Well, then, good thing I don't have to." Krillin answered, sensing something.
"Daddy!" I screamed as loud as I could, arrogantly turning my back to Vegeta and Nappa as I watched my dad and... uncle... appear. The wish had run its course, apparently. The moment that the last Saibaman died, was the same moment that the two brothers appeared on the horizon.
"Goku!!" Krillin shouted, along with Tien and Chiaotzu. They were so overjoyed by his presence that they didn't even register the jerk beside his's presence. Naturally, Piccolo and the Saiyans didn't make the same oversight.
"What are you doing here, bastard?" Piccolo yelled at Raditz, shocked.
"Don't worry, Piccolo. He's on our side this time." Goku announced, sharing a look with his brother. Surprisingly they seemed like they'd gotten close during their ten or so months together.
"You wasted a wish to bring Raditz back to life?" Vegeta scoffed, "Why? I thought he was your enemy, and a weakling."
"No. We definitely didn't wish for that jerk back. Goku, he was the entire reason that you died!" Krillin reminded his friend, but Goku wasn't listening.
"da-da-DADDY!!!" It took Gohan's brain a moment to 'reboot' after not seeing his father for so long. As soon as the word managed to leave his lips, he charged his father and tackled him in a hug.
"I missed you too, Gohan. Wow, you grew so big!" Goku marveled, picking my brother up, "Hanna, you gonna give your old man a hug, too? Or are you just gonna leave me hanging?" Goku asked.
For me, it'd been over a hundred years since I'd seen my father. I felt like I'd failed him somehow by not visiting him in otherworld, when I'd been fully capable of it. I'd thought that I was ready for it... that sending Shay to watch over him somehow absolved me of some of that guilt I'd built up by not doing everything that I could to... I don't even know, maybe stay together, but looking at him now, I just wanted to cry, but I couldn't.
"Daddy..." I walked up to him, but I didn't jump into his arms like Gohan had. I didn't deserve that right, and I knew it. In some way, I was betraying him with this farce, hiding my power and putting him in danger... What sort of right did I have?
Goku noticed my hesitation, but he couldn't possibly know the reason behind it, so he instead assumed that it was just a side effect of everything that I'd gone through in this past year, which wasn't totally wrong. Putting Gohan down, he got down on one knee, putting his hand on my head.
"I see you trained in the Time Chamber, Hanna. You're so strong now that I hardly recognized you."
I didn't answer. Tears welled up in my eyes, as I tried not to cry.
"You helped Piccolo take care of Gohan over this past year, didn't you? King Kai told me... I'm so proud of you." He ruffled my hair before pulling me into a hug. I didn't resist, but rather just stood there crying. I could feel Shay in my jacket, angry and helpless as she watched me cry, knowing that she couldn't do anything about it. Feeling her get so angry on my behalf helped calm me a little bit.
"Kakarot. Now isn't the time for this." Raditz gently chided his brother.
"Done with the little family moment?" Vegeta asked, mocking. He bent down and put his scouter back onto his face to assess the newcomer's power levels.
"Why are you bothering to check their power levels, Vegeta? Raditz was always a weakling. How could his brother be any different?" Nappa scoffed.
"Hmm... The scouter seems to be malfunctioning." Vegeta said, astonishment in his eyes. He crushed the scouter in his hand angrily, unwilling to believe what it said.
Nappa looked at him in surprise. "What did it say?" He asked. Wanton displays of violence weren't exactly uncommon coming from Vegeta, but only rarely did Vegeta show his emotions as openly as he was doing now.
"It must have been wrong. There's no way that their power levels are both above 10,000!" Vegeta shouted, "No way in hell!"
Nappa's eyes bugged out. 10,000? In his mind, there was no possible way. Raditz had always been weak... A bug that even the Saibamen could crush underfoot fairly easily. Now, Vegeta's scouter was saying that that bug was stronger than him by a force of nearly 3,000 units? No possible way. A score like that would be enough to contend even with Vegeta himself.
"No way! That's impossible! There's no way that this weakling's stronger than me!" Nappa shouted.
"You better listen to your little toy, Vegeta. It's not wrong... We're both far stronger than either of you."
"But can we trust you?" Piccolo asked Raditz.
"I'm still the same selfish bastard I've always been, Namekian... But I made a promise to the one who brought me back to life."
"Oh? What sort of promise?" Piccolo wondered aloud.
"I swore to live for myself. No more conquering worlds in someone else's name. No more mercenary work, killing for the highest bidder. In honor of my father, I want to try living a peaceful life, here on Earth." Raditz told the Namekian, determination in his gaze.
"Well, alright, then." Piccolo realized that there were no more words to be said. He still didn't trust Raditz to be capable of living peacefully, but Raditz would be fighting on their side during this battle, and that was enough at the moment.
"Guys... Where's Yamcha?" Goku finally asked.
