Before Ego could reply to his system, his sister clamped on the bed and laid down beside him, staring straight into his eyeballs.

Ego woke up, his heart pounding at the absence of Her, the enigmatic figure who'd appeared in his life like a whirlwind. He scoured the house, yet she was nowhere to be found. Disquiet settled within him as he proceeded with his morning routine.

Downstairs, his stepmom and stepsister sat waiting for him. They exchanged cordial morning greetings, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the scent of pancakes and syrup that adorned the breakfast table. The family engaged in light banter, filling the room with a sense of ease despite the unspoken tension brewing within Ego.
