Immortal

Silver's striking beauty turned heads immediately as she stood up and began to navigate the hall. Swathed in a luxurious, floor-length gown that flowed like molten silver, she moved with effortless grace and poise that defied her young age.

Her auburn hair, a cascade of silk, tumbled down her back resembling a flowing waterfall. Her eyes, a deep shade of blue, gleamed with a mixture of curiosity and excitement that seemed to draw her admirers in like a spell.

Despite the bees she had attracted, Silver's eyes however remained locked on Daniel as they glistened in delight. Today she finally had the opportunity to meet her childhood crush after such a long time so she was undoubtedly nervous.

She took another step forward, determined to approach him and engage in a conversation, but her path was suddenly intercepted by a tall man sporting shoulder-length curly brown hair.

"Good evening Miss. I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting. My name is Richard Harrington. And you, my dear, look positively enchanting in that dress. You truly are a vision of elegance." The man said with an air of confidence, an appreciative glint in his eyes as he admired her dress.

Silver responded with a gracious smile, "Thank you, Mr. Harrington. I'm Silver Nielson. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Mr. Harrington continued, "I couldn't help but notice your keen eye for fashion. And since you have such impeccable taste, I would like to know your opinion on the painting in the next room, 'The Enigmatic Muse.' Have you had the chance to admire it?"

Silver who was quite eager to reach Daniel but still had to remain polite replied, "I have heard it's quite a remarkable piece. Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing it up close yet."

"Ah, you're in for a treat, my dear. It's a masterpiece, and I'm sure someone of your discerning taste will appreciate its beauty. Shall we go have a look together?" Mr. Harrington smiled, his love for the arts could be seen swimming in his hazel eyes.

Silver, torn between her eagerness to reach Daniel and her manners soon found herself engaged in a polite but protracted conversation.

Although she wanted to throw this man into the pool outside the hall, she still had a pure and docile image to keep so she sucked it in and smiled as politely as she could.

Sighing for the nth time with a stiff smile on her face, she nodded at the man's comments as she cast fleeting glances in Daniel's direction.

Gesturing toward the painting, Harrington began, "You see, 'The Enigmatic Muse' captures the essence of mystery and beauty in such a unique way. The artist's use of colors and light—", he started to say but was interrupted by a phone call.

When he excused himself to answer the phone call, Silver couldn't be more grateful.

She was finally able to extricate herself from the tormenting conversation.

Blessing the person who called Harrington to the seventh Heaven, she was about to continue on her quest when she heard someone call out her name.

Turning to face where she heard her name, she came into contact with a familiar face.

"Violet?" she inquired in confusion as she gazed at the dark-haired woman with green eyes dressed in a seductive black mini-dress.

"Oh my gosh, Sil. It is you!" Violet exclaimed as she took a large stride and enveloped her in a tight hug.

"It's been so long. How have you been? Daddy didn't tell me you were coming!" Violet continued immediately as she freed Silver from her grasp.

With a genuine smile on her face that was a stark contrast to the stiff smile she offered Harrington, Silver responded, "I've been doing great, what about you? Oh, and I didn't know I'd be coming either. "

"That doesn't matter anymore, as long as you are here already. Come let's go catch up for old time's sake. I would have taken you to see Jake but I don't know where that nut job is." Violet said excitedly as she held Silver's hand and took her all the way to the other end of the hall.

Jake the nut job who was currently using people's behinds as a hideout, "…"

Wondering when she'd be able to meet up with Daniel, Silver reluctantly let herself be led away by Violet but took a glance at him as she did and saw that he was now conversing with another guest.

As she exchanged drinks and stories with Violet, Silver's eyes kept darting toward Daniel's seat and although she tried to keep the exchange brief, Violet was relentless in her enthusiasm.

It was then, however, much to Silver's dismay that the auctioneer grabbed the microphone and announced, "Good evening ladies and gentlemen. The auction will begin in five minutes. Please settle down with your placards."

As soon as the auctioneer dropped the microphone, Silver felt a sense of frustration.

'I wasn't able to speak with Daniel at all.' She thought dejectedly.

"Sil, the auction is about to start. I have to go join my friends over there so I'll see you once the event is over alright? Don't miss me too much!" Violet said as she grabbed her bag and hurried away leaving Silver behind speechless.

The guests interested in the auction began to move to their assigned seats so Silver had no choice but to walk back to her seat as well with nothing but her thoughts.

'Dad is also competing for Valentina Estates, if I approach him now, he'd just think I purposely came to distract him.'

As soon as Silver settled into her seat, Wilford, the auctioneer took his place at the center of the stage, commanding attention with his magnetic presence.

He was a charismatic figure, known for his talent in turning auctions into captivating performances.

"Good evening distinguished ladies, gentlemen, and face stuffers. As you all know my name is Wilford Darlington and I'm your host for tonight." Wilford chimed excitedly into the microphone as he glanced at the crumbs on most of the silverware on the buffet table.

After eliciting a few awkward coughs and light giggles from the crowd he introduced some jewelry pieces made by the famous RX Jewelries with a confident voice.

As the pieces were sought after by men and women alike, it didn't take long for all the pieces to be auctioned off and even Silver got herself a beautiful bracelet.

However throughout the auction, there was no movement from both Simon and Daniel's side, that was until Wilford introduced the star of the evening, Valentina Estates.

"Ladies and gentlemen, what a night it has been! We've seen diamonds that would make the stars blush and rubies that could set the night on fire! But hold onto your hats, because we've saved the pièce de résistance for last! Gather 'round, gather 'round, for the star of our show tonight—the illustrious Valentina Estates!" Wilford's excited voice boomed through the speakers in the room.

At the drop of his words, murmurs and whispers filled the room as anticipation crackled in the air.

But Wilford didn't wait for the energy to simmer before he continued with more momentum, "Now, I won't sugarcoat it, folks. Valentina Estates isn't just a name; it's a legacy! This estate has seen empires rise and fall, and yet it stands here, ready to adorn a new royalty!"

Silver glanced at her father and noticed his eyebrows slightly furrowed while his fists were tightly clenched.

Turning her head to the side, she peeked at Daniel and realized that he remained as stoic as ever. He was an embodiment of stillness akin to a bamboo stalk in a tranquil grove, unmoving yet imbued with an aura of quiet resilience.

He looked so uninterested and if Silver didn't know any better she'd have thought Daniel just came out for a relaxing exhibition and not to battle for the most sought after vineyard.

With a sigh, Silver reclined in her seat and rubbed at her temples.

'I know how badly Dad wants Valentina Estates but why do I secretly want Daniel to get his hands on it first?'

'Ugh! I'm such a terrible daughter. If Dad had mind-reading powers, he'd likely be booking a return ticket to the maternity ward, double-checking if there was a mix-up!'

"Ah…biscuits!" Silver muttered with a tired sigh and she immediately felt a warm hand over hers.

Raising her head she came face to face with Simon who smiled comfortingly at her, "It's alright Sil. Your dad has everything under control so don't worry your pretty little head over this."

Silver not knowing whether to laugh or cry, nodded her head stiffly as she thought, 'Yes! It's official. I'm a terrible daughter through and through. I should just open my reality show and name it, The Chronicles of a Disappointing Offspring.'

Meanwhile, Lucas who was seated beside Daniel, was busy with his tablet keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings of K's stocks.

His tablet held valuable information and real-time updates, ensuring that his boss would be well-informed and ready to make swift decisions when the time came.

Jake who after gaining enough experience using the behinds of the old and wise of the business world as a hideout, freely sat beside Lucas once he confirmed that the coast was clear.

"Phew! It was hot down there." he voiced exaggeratedly as he fanned his face with his palm.

"....."

Noticing that his words and actions gained no attention, he leaned over to look at Lucas's tablet screen, his green eyes widening with each word that popped up.

Then he leaned further to look at Daniel's phone screen and shook his head in total disbelief.

"Are you psycho boss and subordinate really here to bid for the most wanted vineyard or are you here to pass time taking in antique air to become immortal?"
