The ability to become a Super Saiyan was once regarded as nothing but a distant legend, a tale from the distant past that hadn't been witnessed in over a thousand years. However, the legend of the Super Saiyan continued to cast a shadow over the universe, especially on the minds of those who feared the growing power of the Saiyan race.
The tale reached its climax when the tyrant Frieza, who had Saiyan soldiers in his ranks, became increasingly paranoid about the truth behind this legend due to the Saiyan's rising strength. After seeking informal permission from the God of Destruction Beerus, Frieza decided to annihilate the Saiyan race by destroying Planet Vegeta, or so he thought, putting an apparent end to the Super Saiyan legend.
But destiny had other plans. Twenty-five years later, on the distant planet Namek, the legend of the Super Saiyan was about to be rekindled. It was proven to be true when Goku, battered and worn from his intense battle with Frieza, tapped into his dormant powers. The recovery in a Rejuvenation Tank inside Frieza's spaceship played a part in this, giving him an astounding power level of 3,000,000 due to the Zenkai. Goku, now ready to face the tyrant, rushed to the battlefield to save his friends.
There, Goku bore witness to Vegeta's final stand against Frieza, as the prince of the Saiyans met his doom. Frieza, seemingly invincible, withstood Goku's combined attack of Kaioken times 20 and Kamehameha without a scratch. Even the Spirit Bomb, infused with energy from the planets surrounding Namek, couldn't fell the tyrant.
However, when Frieza ruthlessly killed Krillin and left Piccolo gravely injured, Goku's dormant powers erupted in an explosion of rage. The transformation into a Super Saiyan marked an explosive increase in power, soaring to an astonishing level of 150,000,000. The battle against the tyrant raged on, resulting in the devastation of Namek, a planet on the brink of obliteration.
Freiza, in his desperation, begged Goku for mercy, as his pride was shattered by the strength of a Saiyan. In an act of compassion, Goku offered him some of his energy, hoping for a change of heart. But Frieza's malice remained, and he launched an attack against Goku. In response, Goku fired an Angry Kamehameha that consumed both Frieza's attack and what remained of the tyrant.
Goku, filled with a sense of pity for Frieza's inability to change for the better, glanced back at the fallen foe. However, instead of mercy, he was met with one final treacherous attack from Frieza. Overwhelmed with anger, Goku unleashed a devastating Kamehameha that obliterated Frieza in an immense explosion.
The story reaches its dramatic conclusion with Goku, saddened by Frieza's inability to reform despite countless chances, looking back at the location of the fallen tyrant before continuing his journey. Believed to have perished in the explosion on Namek, Goku's friends on Earth are left in mourning. Yet, the story takes a turn as they learn that Goku has miraculously survived, setting the stage for his future adventures.
