Her mind remained as sharp and formidable as it had been before her regression.

There could be several reasons for this. 

Perhaps it was subconscious—her childlike behavior a result of her new, smaller body. 

Or maybe she was simply indulging her father's wishes, or perhaps it was just her natural way of expressing her childish side.

At that moment, Kate sat on Amelia's lap, her expression a mix of annoyance and discomfort. 

While she adored being treated like a child for her father, she had no tolerance for the attention from the other women. 

She didn't voice her frustration, though.
