VICTORIA'S P.O.V

The deafening roar of the ricocheting bullet reverberated through the desolate hallways, shattering the oppressive silence that hung in the air. In that split second, while the sound echoed, I was acutely aware of Nova's urgent voice resounding in my earpiece, her words cutting through the chaos.

"No, Lillith, hold your fire," Nova's voice commanded, laced with a mix of caution and anticipation. "He's momentarily distracted. Wait for the perfect moment." Her words were a lifeline, guiding me through the labyrinth of danger.

I huddled behind the remnants of a shattered wall, a testament to the destruction that had unfolded mere hours ago. The bomb had left its mark, tearing apart the once-sturdy barrier like tissue paper. But in its fragmented state, it provided a fragile shield, just enough to conceal my presence. I pressed myself against the jagged edges, trying to meld into the shadows, to become one with the wreckage.

The advantage was mine, a knowledge that sent a thrill coursing through my veins. The man I hunted, the one who had caused all this chaos, was on the brink of defeat. His ammunition had dwindled to a mere handful of bullets, no more than four or five rounds left in his magazine. A smirk tugged at the corner of my lips, a silent testament to the anticipation building within me.

He was cornered, a lone wolf separated from his pack. His comrades had fallen hours ago, victims of my relentless pursuit. The remaining hours had been a gruelling battle of attrition, each passing moment etching the relentless passage of time into my consciousness. Midnight had long since faded into dusk, and I had been trapped within this decaying fortress for what felt like an eternity. But now, the culmination of my efforts was within reach.

Nova's voice, crackling through the earpiece, pulled my focus back to the present. "You're aware of your advantage, Lillith," she affirmed, her voice tinged with a mix of confidence and caution. "Listen carefully. He's down to three bullets. Reinforcements are on their way, closing in."

"Understood," I replied, my voice a mere whisper. "So, he's truly cornered now?"

"Absolutely," Nova confirmed her words a resolute declaration.

A devious smile danced upon my lips as another bullet sliced through the stagnant air, the sound reverberating off the dilapidated walls. With each passing shot, his arsenal diminished. He was down to two bullets, teetering on the precipice of vulnerability.

"Nova, should I consider shifting my position?" I pondered aloud, seeking her guidance. While I typically operated alone, this mission demanded an extra layer of vigilance. The gang we faced was formidable, and Nova's watchful eyes provided an invaluable advantage.

Another bullet whizzed past, its proximity suggesting it had grazed the wall mere inches from my concealed location. The knowledge that my position remained concealed fueled my confidence. He was down to one bullet, his final lifeline.

"No," Nova responded firmly, her voice brimming with caution. "Firing now would expose your position. Wait for that last bullet. Trust me."

I regulated my breathing, focusing on the task at hand. Every inhalation and exhalation was measured as a delicate dance between control and anticipation. The weight of the moment pressed upon me, a single gasp or misplaced footstep threatening to unravel my carefully laid plans. My heart, trained through countless trials, beat with a steady rhythm, a testament to my resolve. And within my grasp, an entire magazine of ammunition, a symphony of power waiting to be unleashed.

A flicker of realization sparked within me, an idea that ignited like wildfire. "Nova," I interjected, my voice tinged with a mix of mischief and determination.

"Hm?" Nova responded, her voice laced with curiosity.

"Apologies in advance for what I'm about to do," I muttered, my hand instinctively reaching for the earpiece. With a swift motion, I removed it from my ear, severing the connection to Nova's voice. It was a calculated risk, a momentary decision that would allow me to revel in the element of surprise.

Emerging from behind the fractured wall, I stepped into the open, my gaze locked on the man whose back was turned to me. Towering over me, he exuded an air of brute strength, his muscular frame a formidable presence. His grip on the gun tightened, his knuckles turning white against the dark metal. A black monkey cap obscured his features, a daring choice that defied reason in this sweltering weather.

Drawing upon my British wit, I couldn't resist the temptation to taunt him, to seize the upper hand in this deadly game. "Oi, Hagrid!" I bellowed with a commanding voice, my words laced with a mix of amusement and defiance. In that instant, he spun around in a panicked frenzy, his eyes widening in surprise and fear. The sight of me, his relentless pursuer, had caught him off guard.

A chuckle escaped my lips as I witnessed the fear etched across his face. I had willingly exposed my position, a calculated move that defied conventional wisdom. But his incompetence prevented him from capitalizing on the advantage. "You've stolen twelve hours of my life!" I shrieked, my voice dripping with venom. "And I despise you!"

Exploiting his momentary confusion, I narrowed my left eye, finger poised on the trigger. Time seemed to slow, the world around me fading into insignificance. In that suspended moment, my focus honed to a razor's edge. I squeezed the trigger thrice, each pull punctuated by a resounding gunshot.

The bullets sliced through the air with astonishing speed, propelled by my unwavering aim. They found their mark, three meticulously placed shots that sought their destination—a single point on his forehead. The impact was thunderous, a triumphant symphony of justice.

Three bullets pierced the silence, their collective force tearing through the veil of stillness. Moments later, a resounding thud reverberated through the air as Hagrid's lifeless body collapsed, a grotesque marionette cut loose from its strings. The impact left a gaping hole in the centre of his forehead, a chilling testament to the finality of his fate.

One bullet remained embedded within his skull, its deadly trajectory halted by the impenetrable barrier of bone. The other two found their resting place in the crumbling wall, a macabre display of crimson blood splattering across the surface, juxtaposed against the desolation of the surroundings.

"Hm," I murmured, a satisfied tone colouring my voice. "Not bad." A surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins, a euphoria born from the successful culmination of my mission. I scoffed, striding confidently towards the exit, leaving behind the remnants of the battle in my wake. Reinserting the earpiece, I was met with resounding silence, a testament to the finality of the moment.

"I dare say, mission accomplished," I declared, my laughter echoing through the hollow emptiness of the abandoned building. The sound reverberated off the decaying walls, a victorious symphony that marked the end of a relentless pursuit.

Yet, even as I relished in the triumph, I knew that the shadows of danger would continue to loom. The pursuit of justice was an unending journey, and there would always be new battles to fight, and new adversaries to face. But for now, in this fleeting moment of victory, I allowed myself to revel in the sweet taste of success.
