Chapitre 12: Ability To Badmouth

Throughout the morning, Sebastian continued to ignore Olivia, who seemed unfazed by his cold demeanour.

However, this only served to further infuriate Sebastian.

Before leaving the villa, he sternly warned his staff not to allow Jolene to leave the premises.

Sebastian emphasised that, despite what others believed, the Jolene he knew was far from foolish.

Sebastian had known her since childhood, and there was something behind her peculiar behaviour that he needed to figure out.

While Sebastian cared for her, he couldn't ignore the fact that her actions had caused the old woman's blood pressure to spike dangerously, ultimately leading to her demise.

The doctor's report confirmed that the old woman had suffered from high blood pressure, and Sebastian figured that the shock Jolene had caused had exacerbated her condition.

Logically, Jolene shouldn't be blamed for the old woman's death.

According to the health results Sebastian reviewed, the old woman had been battling high blood pressure for some time.

Therefore, if something had triggered a similar level of shock to what she experienced the night before, she would still have been in a critical condition.

However, Sebastian couldn't help but feel annoyed by her actions.

Sebastian also didn't want to be entangled in other people's affairs.

Even when he entered the room, Jolene's nonchalant question about the old woman's death, devoid of any sympathy, irked him.

It seemed as if she had been anticipating the old woman's demise.

Sebastian instructed Jolene's maid to keep a close eye on her and to do everything possible to help her regain her memory.

Sebastian also emphasised the importance of promptly informing him of any improvements she noticed in Jolene's condition.

After settling things at home, Sebastian left the villa for his company.

As the founder and president, Sebastian knew he couldn't be absent for too long, considering the workload that rested on his shoulders.

Indeed, as the founder and president of his company, Sebastian had the flexibility to resume work at his own convenience. However, he was well aware of the consequences of extended absence.

With Sebastian gone, Olivia decided to take a break.

Olivia placed the comic book on the nearest table and headed for the entrance.

Olivia's initial intention was to take a walk around and see if anyone knew the whereabouts of Xi Village.

However, she later had to remind herself that she had transmigrated into a comic world, and Xi Village might not even exist here.

Still, Olivia held onto the belief that there must be a way to escape this world, possibly a portal or some other means she had heard about from other assassins in Stone Cloud regarding transmigration.

Before Olivia reached the entrance of her room, she heard a knock from the other side.

Olivia took a few steps backward when she saw the maid who had belittled her, thinking she was Jolene, open the door.

Out of annoyance, Olivia asked her, "Why do you keep following me wherever I am, servant?"

The maid gulped nervously, clearly uncomfortable with the tone and manner of speech the young miss used when addressing her.

The maid immediately bowed to introduce herself, thinking that since the young miss was suffering from amnesia, she might not remember her.

"I'm Patricia, Miss Jolene. Six months ago, Fifth Young Master Sebastian appointed me as your maid. I am here to attend to all your needs and ensure your safety. Naturally, all your daily activities will be reported to Fifth Young Master Sebastian when he returns. If you have any questions or need anything, I am here to assist you."

"You must be quite talkative," Olivia remarked.

Olivia noticed the hesitation in the maid's behaviour and understood that her behaviour was more of a charade to prevent Olivia from reporting her to the young man.

Olivia saw this as an opportunity to gain some leverage.

Fixing her gaze on Patricia, Olivia spoke again.

"I see that you are trying to be well-behaved, Patricia. But you have worried enough; your impudent attitude will not be reported to your master."

Patricia sighed in relief while still maintaining a sense of frustration. To think that the unattractive young miss could continue with her impertinent behaviour was quite surprising. She said, "Thank you, Miss Jolene."

"But you will have to do something in return," Olivia added.

Seeing the maid's reluctant demeanour, Olivia found delight in increasing the maid's discomfort. "I mean...you will have a lot of things to do for me. Otherwise, you might be dismissed. Trust me, I have a very persuasive tongue, and I am confident in my ability to badmouth."

Olivia smiled a little and continued, "Don't look so sullen; they won't be heavy tasks, just like the tasks you mentioned for me, Patricia."

Patricia swallowed nervously. "Miss Jolene, what is it?"

"The first one... I'm hungry, Patricia. Tell the cook to prepare a meal for me and add poison to it."
