Trenton walked to her side and carried her to the bed, and she obediently let him hold her. After glancing at her one last time, he furrowed his brow slightly, then picked up his pace as he left the room.

As he locked the door from the hall, he hesitated, subconsciously securing the latch, then took a step back and looked up at the window on the third floor.

The light was still on, and the curtains were drawn shut, but there was no one standing there.
