Though Suzanne Trent had repeatedly said she would sleep in until eleven the next day, she was up much earlier than expected.
When Mason King walked out, the first thing he saw was Suzanne with half a slice of bread hanging out of her mouth, a towel haphazardly tied around her head, all fresh-faced, as if she had just washed her face and hadn't applied any skincare yet. She was standing on the couch, staring up at the living room ceiling.
As if she finally spotted something, Suzanne suddenly widened her eyes, raising the magazine in her hand and slamming it hard against the ceiling.
After a loud "smack," she dropped the magazine, satisfied, clapped her hands, stepped down from the couch, and hurriedly swallowed the half-slice of bread in her mouth.
This scene was all too familiar, just like what she did last night in the bathroom.
Suzanne tossed the magazine into a trash bin beside the couch and caught sight of him.
