Chapitre 488: Spider Web

"Where's the harm in that? This is a Gym, and you can come here anytime," smiled Mr. Burgh, responding to Yuga.

Although he wasn't a referee during yesterday's preliminary matches, he had watched from start to finish. He greatly admired Yuga's strength and even questioned if he himself could be a match for Yuga.

"Oh, I remember, Mr. Shimizu, you also have a Vivillon, right? You and Viola can exchange experiences," Mr. Burgh suddenly mentioned, recalling yesterday's match where Yuga's Vivillon had performed exceptionally well.

"Ah, you also have a Vivillon?" Viola asked in surprise.

Yuga hadn't expected Mr. Burgh to know about his Vivillon. Seeing Viola's curious expression, Yuga nodded in confirmation.

"Really? Want to have a battle with me?" Viola excitedly proposed.

"But isn't the competition tomorrow? We might face each other then," Yuga reminded her.

Upon hearing Yuga's point, Viola paused, realizing that he was correct.

"In that case, let's save it for the competition," she agreed.

"How about a battle with me?" Mr. Burgh suddenly suggested. He was genuinely interested in Yuga's Vivillon. While he had several Vivillon in his Gym, he admitted that he might not have raised them to the level of Yuga's.

Hearing Mr. Burgh's proposal, Viola became enthusiastic as well. As a Bug-type Pokémon Trainer, she had a deep passion for Bug-type Pokémon and was always excited about anything related to them.

Seeing Mr. Burgh and Viola's enthusiasm, Yuga felt a bit reluctant. Tomorrow was the official competition, and he wondered if it was appropriate to provide information about his own Pokémon to his opponents.

However, after some consideration, he agreed. After all, not everyone had Insight ability like him, so sharing some information wouldn't hurt.

Viola happily exclaimed, "Then I'll be the referee!"

During their previous impromptu battle with Mr. Burgh, there was no official referee present, so Viola volunteered herself.

Yuga and Mr. Burgh stood on opposite sides of the battle arena, and since Yuga had already decided to use his Vivillon, there was no need to determine who would go first.

Yuga released his Vivillon, while Mr. Burgh sent out an Electric/Bug-type Galvantula.

This Galvantula was larger than the average Galvantula, covered in yellow fuzz, with occasional flashes of golden electricity running across its body.

Yuga had found Galvantula's pre-evolved form, Joltik, cute, but once it evolved, its appearance became rather peculiar.

With both sides ready, Viola shouted, "I now declare the battle has begun!"

At this moment, Viola had somehow acquired a camera and began snapping pictures of Yuga's Vivillon with enthusiasm. Both Viola and her sister Alexa were avid photographers, with Alexa's journalism profession requiring it and Viola being a photography enthusiast.

As Viola gave the signal for the battle to start, Mr. Burgh's Galvantula swiftly began moving around the battlefield, shooting one Electroweb after another onto the surrounding trees.

Since the battle arena was surrounded by vegetation, Galvantula aimed to restrict Vivillon's movement by setting up these Electrowebs.

This was a tactic Vivillon had once used to deal with other Pokémon, but it was now facing it itself.

Despite Vivillon's ability to play with Electrowebs skillfully, it was still a Flying-type Pokémon. Electrowebs were precisely the bane of its existence.

If Vivillon were accidentally ensnared by these electrified webs, it would be in serious trouble.

However, while Galvantula was busy setting traps, Vivillon wasn't idle. By the time Galvantula finished its preparations, Vivillon had already completed its Quiver Dance enhancement.

Vivillon is not like Chimecho that leaned toward support moves, Although it has some interference skills, it is not proficient in it. its main power resided in this move, Quiver Dance.

"Galvantula, Thunder Wave!"

This Galvantula moved at an incredibly fast pace, climbing up the Electrowebs it had set like lightning, moving swiftly across them.

Yuga realized that this Galvantula was taking a disruption approach with its hard-to-track movements and control abilities like Electroweb, making it quite challenging for most Pokémon.

"Vivillon, use Safeguard," Yuga commanded.

A green energy shield appeared in front of Vivillon, intercepting the Thunder Wave attacks that came from seemingly nowhere.

However, even though Vivillon managed to block the Thunder Wave, the Galvantula's movement on the webs was too rapid for Yuga's eyes to follow. Even with Vivillon's Compound Eyes ability helping to pinpoint the Galvantula's location, it couldn't land a hit.

While Vivillon's flying skills were excellent, allowing it to navigate through the webs with ease, this astonished Mr. Burgh. However, Vivillon still felt frustrated.

Seeing that Vivillon was becoming somewhat impatient with Galvantula's tactics, Yuga instructed, "Vivillon, don't worry about where the Galvantula is. Use Hurricane to tear down all the webs."

Upon hearing Yuga's command, Vivillon's eyes sparkled, and it immediately harnessed its Flying-type energy to create slender Wind Blades. It shredded all the webs on the field, along with the branches and leaves entangled within them.

Vivillon's Hurricane had two forms: one in the shape of a whirlwind, which it often used during Gym challenges, and the other, the Wind Blade form, which it used less frequently.

With no web support, Galvantula ended up on the ground, helpless.

Yuga felt a bit embarrassed as he gazed at the messy battlefield he had created.

Vivillon had long infuriated Galvantula with its hit-and-run tactics, and the moment it revealed itself, Vivillon vented its frustration by swiftly defeating Galvantula with a Wind Blade.

While Galvantula was incredibly fast, its defense was lacking. It couldn't withstand the combination of Vivillon's boosted speed from Quiver Dance and the Wind Blade attack. It went down instantly.

Mr. Burgh hadn't expected Yuga to be this aggressive, and this small section of his Gym had indeed taken a beating. He recognized that Yuga's Vivillon excelled in two aspects: the speed from Quiver Dance and the precise control of Flying-type energy.

Quiver Dance relied on Vivillon's remarkable flying skills, while mastery of Flying-type energy control depended on instinct and natural talent.

"No worries, Yuga. It's fine," Mr. Burgh waved it off. Castelia Gym had the resources to handle such damage, and the Pokémon League provided subsidies for Gym maintenance.
