Helen Blair felt as if her heart had been ruthlessly peeled open with a knife, the pain nearly taking her breath away.
Dad... Dad was also one of the culprits who killed Mom!
Why? Why? Mom loved him so much, helped him gain a foothold in the Blair Group, and for him to proudly hold his head high in public, she slowly transferred her shares to him. Why would dad do such a thing to her?
Helen's hand tightly clutched the floor, unable to even cry.
At this moment, Sebastian Carter walked in. As Helen looked at his handsome face, despite the immense hatred she felt, she still held onto a glimmer of hope. She hoped that in her father's heart, there was still a place for her.

Sebastian Carter closed the door behind him, walked over to Amelia Walker, and lowered his voice, "What happened? How did Helen die out of nowhere?" Turning to Ruby Carter, he demanded, "You said Helen left early due to some issues. Why did she pass out in the private room of a hotel? What did you do? You better not lie to me. I can easily find out."
Ruby's face turned pale and looked for help from her mother.
Amelia stood in front of Ruby, and then bravely addressed Sebastian, "Ruby also likes the Hoffman's prince and added some egg white to Helen's drink. She didn't anticipate the consequences. It was just an accident."
Sebastian's face turned beet red. He pulled Ruby out, raised his hand and slapped her across the face. Ruby screamed and fell to the ground, clutching her face and crying.
Sebastian pointed at her and shouted, "Helen is your sister. How could you harm her for a man!"
As he was about to hit Ruby again, she scurried away in fear. Amelia rushed over, blocked Sebastian and shouted, "Enough! Helen is your daughter, but isn't Ruby as well? She's the real Miss Carter. The prince of Hoffman should rightfully be hers! There's nothing wrong with her striving for what belongs to her."
Ruby remembered how she had been treated like an unwanted daughter despite being the legitimate child. She remembered the disdain and ridicule she had endured. As she thought about it, she was overwhelmed with pain and wept bitterly.
Amelia continued, "I thought I could marry you when I was young, but then you met a rich young girl. I didn't mind being a nameless partner because I loved you, and I gave birth to Ruby! Ruby and I have been hiding in the shadows, living with shame, but since I loved you, I was okay with it. I have been patient all these years. After Isabella Blair died, you wanted to have the Blair Group's old subordinates all support you, so you insisted on waiting two years to marry me, and I accepted that! You were afraid that our affair would come to light and it might affect your position in the Blair Group. And you weren't ready to admit Ruby, that was also okay! We, as mother and daughter have endured all of it, but you shouldn't forget, Ruby is your daughter, your first child!"
Sebastian listened to the old stories she was bringing up, his face alternating between red and white. His immediate reaction was to open the door and see if anyone had heard, and only when he was certain nobody was listening, he closed the door and turned to Amelia, "Why are we discussing all this?" His anger had noticeably subsided.
Amelia's eyes turned red, she rushed into his arms and leaned into his chest, "Sebastian, I only wanted to tell you that no matter what you do, we are the ones who support you since we are your closest people. Will you really, for the deceased Helen, send the living Ruby to prison?"
Through her tears, Ruby pleaded, "Dad, I know I was wrong, please forgive me, I really didn't mean it."
Sebastian glanced at Helen lying in the bed, sighed and said, "Who said that I am sending Ruby to prison? Just now, President Hoffman, Mrs. Hoffman and even the prince himself all expressed their interest in Ruby. Ruby is destined to become the vista group's daughter-in-law."
Ruby stopped crying, and looked up in surprise, "Really?"
Sebastian gave a small smile, perhaps realizing it was inappropriate to smile in front of his deceased daughter, he quickly sobered up, "Of course it's true. Except for her last name not being Blair, in all aspects, you are better than Helen! Now it's all up to whether you can get the prince!"
Ruby got up from the ground, dusted her hands and said confidently, "What's so difficult about that? There hasn't been a man who could resist me since I was a child!"
Helen huddled herself into a ball, trembling non-stop. There seemed to be a fire burning in her heart. The flame grew bigger and bigger, threatening to destroy everything.
Amelia glanced at Sebastian and casually said, "Helen was going to turn 25 next year and could have claimed her shares. I didn't expect such a thing to happen. She is really unlucky…"
Sebastian was silent for a while, then said, "This child is indeed unlucky, it seems like the Blair family has a short lifespan. I don't know why!"
Helen felt as if her body was about to explode. An indescribable pain was consuming her. She screamed hysterically, releasing her internal agony.
"I won't let any of you go. Even as a ghost, I won't let you off," she swore, watching the man and two women in front of her. Her fists clenched, she was gritting her teeth, her tears fell relentlessly.
Yet, she was helpless against them. This feeling of despair drove her insane. She watched Sebastian cover her face with the white cloth once more. He lightly instructed Amelia to take care of her funeral. Then, Ruby asked him about the Hoffman situation while holding his arm. The three of them laughingly left the room.
Helen tried to chase after them with all her might. But at the door, a force pulled her back. At the same time, an unbearable pain consumed her, as if she were being dismembered. Her vision went black and she passed out.
