Chapitre 1: Chapter 1: Death
"That was BEAUTIFUL!" A teen spinning in their gaming chair screamed. On their PC monitor were credits playing along with some music, a minute later the teen phone started ringing and they picked up.
"DEE DEE DID YOU FINISH IT!" A voice screaming through the phone asked.
"YES BRO THAT SHIT WAS FIRE" The person now named Dee responded, "Lynn, you really put me on sum heat, not gonna lie"
"Does this mean you're going to play League of Legends now?"
"Nope, but the show was fire." After laughing and talking for a while, the two decided they should do something after watching an amazing show like that, so they decided to eat out.
9:28 in North Carolina in autumn, sounded like a perfect time for a food truck, and lucky for them, a fair was happening as well. Searching every bit of his house for money, Dee looked under his bed, the couch, behind the living room TV, and finally, the laundry room, while Lynn simply asked her parents for money.
The two arrived by their own means with Dee riding bus and Lynn parents driving her. After greeting and waving her parents goodbye, the two started walking to the fair. They talked and joked and laughed the entire time they were good friends. Some may even call them siblings, but after a while of walking, the two sat on a bench, deciding to finish their food there.
"So um, how's things at home?" Lynn was worried asking this question. It's a sore spot for Dee after all, no matter how much he tries to act like it's not.
"It's cool, same as always" he says, taking another bite of his food. "Why do you ask?"
"No reason, just checking up on things." There was an awkward silence after that, Dee was like family to her, so she would check up on things whenever she could, but sometimes he wouldn't give her anything to go on which made his home life a mystery to her. When she was going to ask him more, there was a bang, then three more after that. Soon, the entire area was filled with the loud noise, and both of them knew what the noise was. After all, they were no strangers when it came to gunfire.
Bullets were flying everywhere, and people were screaming it was full chaos. Dee grabbed Lynn's hand and started running. He shoved and pushed anyone that was in his way big or small they didn't matter. The only thing that mattered to him was getting Lynn someplace safe, bullets flew past his ears, and his heart was pounding time moved slowly but also fast at the same time. 'Keep moving forward' he thought to himself again and again until the words echoed multiple times in his head, then suddenly his right arm became heavy, nearly making him fall.
He looked back and saw something that completely left him stunned.
He saw Lynn still hold his hand, but she was looking up at him with tears in her eyes holding her neck. Blood was gushing from her neck like a waterfall it was a terrible sight, and when he was about to kneel down to help, he got hit in his right leg, left rib, and finally as if time was slowly moving he saw a bullet heading right towards his left eye and next thing he knew all feeling in his legs gave out and his head smacked the ground as his chest laid on his thighs.
Everything was starting to become blurry, and his thoughts were slowly fading, but he could see one thing and feel one thing, and that was Lynn still crying, looking at him as they were holding hands but both of their grip was becoming weaker until everything finally went dark for both of them.
