Chapitre 50: Warehouse Break-In
Quickly tossing my phone back to Connor to store away I change and fly up into the air. This time though I am taking the form of a Golden eagle, I figure I still need to deal with the guy on the roof. Once I get an angle on the roof top thug, I swiftly dive on him and using my wing I slam into the back of his neck trying not to use too much force. I only wanted to knock him out not kill him and the wings of a normal eagle can break the backs of its prey, so if I'm not careful with my strength I could decapitate him.
After he is down, I take on a new more agile form of a Tufted Capuchin Monkey (Abu from Aladdin). Quickly scampering along the rafters, I see the roof of the warehouse management office and head that way. Once there I see several spots I can jump down from and be in the same room as the thug with the kids. I was happy to see it was Jake whose mind I had entered earlier. Happy because he wouldn't think of hurting the kids at the first sign of trouble.
I reach out to Diana, "I have eyes on the kids and their guard, once you guys start making a ruckus, I will take him down and get the kids out of the building."
-(Scene Shift)-
Diana, "Ok Superboy, Logan is in position."
Connor, "The big guy is over to the right side, I would really like to work some frustration off and he looks like the closest to being able to take a hit. You don't mind, do you?"
Diana, "Go ahead, I'll go left and take down everyone I see. May the Gods smile upon us this day."
Saying this she runs to the wall and just blasts through it with all the noise she can make. Connor does the same thing as he makes a beeline for the big guy.
Diana's philosophy was simple, Don't kill if you can stop them by wounding, Don't wound them if subduing them works, Don't subdue them if you can pacify them and don't raise your hand in violence if you haven't first extended it in friendship. Kidnapping kids and joining a violent gang crossed out a wish for friendship so going for subduing them first works in this instance. I will escalate from there as my sister's teaching dictates.
The first person she came across she was able to subdue with a single punch. She took a few extra seconds to destroy his weapons and move on. Knowing her sister Ororo was more passive and didn't like hand-to-hand combat as much as Diana did, made her all the more interested in it as she wanted to cover for any weakness Ororo may have, to be a good sister.
After taking out 3 more thugs and their weapons, Diana was hit from behind by some sort of sonic weapon. It made her ears ring tremendously and threw her balance off. She was able to recover quick enough and make the shooter miss the next shot. Now seeing it was the passenger of the car that came in she assumed him to be the boss of the operation.
As the boss kept shooting at her, Diana noticed a 3 second charge phase between shots, the base computers said that Intergang trafficked in technology and weapons from Apokolips. But they wouldn't ever trade their best stuff, thus the long charge time. Crossing her wrist bracers in front of her just in case, she charged the boss as soon after he fired his next shot. She was more than close enough with her speed to get to him in three seconds. Once she got to him, she grabbed his rifle and using an open palm, she strong-armed him in the chest sending him flying. She noticed that after he flew back, he left a couple fingers in the trigger mechanism of the rifle. Shrugging her shoulders, she just bent the gun into a U shape and dropped it to the ground and stomped it.
Looking around, Diana saw a green glow of to one side and someone in the car farther out, and it sounded like he was trying to start it to possibly flee. She charged at the thug in the car and shoulder blocked into driver's door shattering the driver's window. The driver was in a panic and couldn't get the car into gear, so Diana reached in and grabbed the guy, then she pulled him out through the window and knocked him unconscious.
She started to look around for her next vict… criminal and suddenly she was slammed into from the side and shoved into the car.
-(Scene Shift)-
Connor slammed through the wall running and just rammed straight toward the biggest guy in the warehouse. No thought, (He had been thinking too much lately). He didn't even register the Intergang thug he knocked out of his way. He had tunnel vision on the big guy and wanted to destress from his breakup with M'gann. (How could she try and use her telepathy to change his thoughts on her abusing her mind powers! Did she really think he couldn't feel her in his mind? Didn't she realize that the very act of using them on him in this way proved his point!!).
Just as he was about to punch the big guy in the back, the guy turned his torso a full 180 and Connor was surprisingly face to face with him. Before Connor could react, the guy caught him by the neck and halted his movement. "Hello, my name is John. I really don't like the shirt you are wearing." John Corben said.
Connor, "I'm Connor. I really don't like it when girls turn the very thing you loved about them into a weapon to destroy what they say they love about you. Or creeps who kidnap kids!"
John, "Hmm. Girl troubles hu? You probably shouldn't try to deal with those using anger and violence. Who am I kidding? I use violence and anger to solve everything!" John said as he punched Conner in the stomach, still holding him by the neck.
After the third punch Connor finally manages to twist enough that John missed. Then using a surprising amount of his strength, he pried John's fingers from around his throat and punched John in the chest to create space.
When Connor punched John, he realized that he wasn't human. More like a cyborg or a robot. (Maybe I should study more, there is a good chance that the library has this guy's information, but I have stubbornly ignored studying because my strength usually works.)
Oh well, cyborg or robot, that just means he can handle it if I get serious. Connor rushed John again but this time he kept his head and fired off a couple punches from a defensible range. John seemed content to duke it out with Connor and just took on a boxer's stance as the two started trading blows back and forth.
Connor took the offence, jab, jab, (get a feeling for his distance and reaction). Roundhouse right, (Shit I overextended, recover.) Before he could recover John stepped forward and landed two stiff left right jabs into Connor's chin. The force of the jabs knocking him off balance leaving his side open for a kidney shot that John happily took. Connor stumbled a bit but recovered and quickly got into the defensive stance Black Canary had taught him.
John, "Nice, I really thought I would have ended it with that kidney shot kid, your kinda tough."
Connor, "Thanks, my Kryptonian DNA lets me take a lot of damage."
John, "Kryptonian hu? That's too bad, I really don't like them. Will Superman take it badly if I kill you?"
Connor, "That arrogant prick can't stand the sight of me, asking me to be his brother and then ditching me. He is no better than M'gann, getting my hopes up only to dash them again and again."
John smiles, "Man you're having a rough go of it. Tell me Superman and this M'gann are getting together, and I'll let you arrest me now. Just to give you a win."
Letting out an enraged scream Connor shouts, "I don't need anyone's pity!!!" He tackled a surprised John and started unloading into his face and chest. Getting into a full mount position, he unloads lefts and rights to John's face then he leans back and gathers momentum. Clenching his stomach, he leans forward twisting his waist to gather more power as he drops his right shoulder and tucks his fist into his own chest leaving all the force he generated in his elbow that strikes the chin of John, slamming John's head into the concrete floor which cracks under the pressure of the delivered blow and bouncing head.
Panting heavily as his rage is expended, Connor stands up and looks around to see Diana stomping on a hi-tech gun. When he hears, "You should always check your opponent before giving up an advantaged position. Young Connor."
Connor looks down to see John has a hand on his chest and was pulling it open like some sort of hatch or door like the old Anime show Wally made him watch called Guyver. But instead of an energy blast, John revealed a green rock that sent shivers of panic through every fiber of the being known as Connor Kent.
Quickly falling to one knee Connor is trembling with weakness under the green glow of Kryptonite. John stands up and maneuvers himself like a pool Que with Connor being the white ball and Diana being the 9 ball, unfortunately the pocket was the car Diana just pulled a thug out of and both Connor and Diana sank into it with a kick from John that started on Connor's chest and ended with him crashing into Diana and the car. Followed by an explosion.
