Jerome
OUR NIGHT PASSED TOO QUICKLY, and I now stared at an evening in hell. Actually, what waited for me might be worse than hell. At least then I’d be dead. I peeked into the hotel room bathroom and watched as Lily placed a dab of black body paint on the tip of her nose.
"Are you sure we need to go to this?" I asked, crossing my fingers she’d give me a different answer than the one I received the last three times I questioned our involvement.
She didn’t turn around, but her gaze met mine in the mirror as she smiled. "Yes," she confirmed.
It would’ve been a simple enough answer because the excitement she didn’t even try to hide made it more than enough. I’d walk across any fire for her.
"Everybody will be there, Jerome. We have to go. Plus Katy and Pierce are back."
Even more reason to stay away, if she asked me, but sadly, she didn’t.
