Chapitre 1688: -1669- Nothing is impossible

Even though Rozen has become much stronger, let's not forget that he was once just a magus at Chaldea, merely a Master.

Back then, though Rozen had already begun to reveal some of his astonishing talent, he was still too fragile when faced with the overwhelming crises before him.

Thinking back, Rozen was only able to summon mid-level familiars, with Mash as his sole contracted Servant by his side. Yet, he had to face one singularity after another, each one fundamental to human order, and go up against mythical heroes and even powerful entities like Demon Gods in life-or-death battles. Facing one crisis after another, from danger to absolute peril, it was truly challenging beyond imagination.

For Rozen at that time, saving humanity and repairing seven singularities was the greatest impossibility and the most terrifying mission he could face.

However, step by step, after a century of honing his skills, Rozen finally reached his current level.

All those once-impossible tasks have now been conquered by him, one after another.

In that case, what else could be impossible?

"Nothing is impossible."

Rozen reached out, gently patting Leafa's head.

"Remember this, Suguha: humanity itself is a being with unlimited potential."

Looking at the history thus far, humans have been victorious time and time again.

Compared to gods, they are fragile.

Compared to heroes, they are weak.

Even against mystical creatures, automatons, shikigami, armored beetles, and the like, humans seem vastly inferior.

Yet, humans have reached this point.

The gods couldn't outlast the end of the Age of Gods and have already disappeared from the earth.

Magic and mystery are gradually fading with the rise of science.

And so, it is these seemingly weakest beings who have survived until now, outlasting the gods, surpassing mysteries, and overcoming nature itself.

Thus, humans, though weak, are incredibly resilient.

In their bodies, minds, and souls lies boundless potential.

Though many beings may look down on humanity, just as many are destined to fall at the hands of humans and come to fear them.

Rozen took pride in his humanity.

In the deepest part of his memory, the figure that once saved him in that white room, giving him a miracle, had said:

"I am merely a 'human.'"

This being, who seemed like a god to Rozen at the time, not only referred to themselves as 'human' but also left Rozen with these words:

"I hope you can continue to live on as a regular human being."

These words remain in Rozen's mind, etched into his heart, and even carved into his soul, something he could never forget.

Therefore...

"Humans are born to challenge the word 'impossible.'"

Rozen smiled gently at Leafa.

"And as for this so-called World Tree, it doesn't even qualify as 'impossible' for me."

Rozen's words radiated quiet confidence.

Seeing him like this, Leafa's eyes sparkled, her heart filled with wonder.

In the past, Leafa had only seen Rozen effortlessly handle what seemed difficult to her, like homework, grades, and the daily grind. Rozen always solved these things naturally, with a carefree and lazy attitude.

Because of this, Rozen was called a genius and even a prodigy.

For Leafa—or rather, for Suguha—Rozen was always a symbol of omnipotence, able to accomplish any task that she herself couldn't.

It would be hard for Suguha not to admire Rozen.

But upon reflection, Suguha realized she had never seen Rozen earnestly challenge something, nor had she seen him with such calm confidence.

This was Rozen, the real Rozen.

Leafa finally understood what Rozen truly was.

Only here, in this world, in this virtual realm, did this side of Rozen appear.

And Leafa believed that even now, facing a formidable opponent like the World Tree, Rozen would still be as invincible as ever.

So...

"nii-san, have you really decided?"

Leafa looked directly at Rozen.

"Yes, I have."

Rozen nodded.

"Then, I..."

Leafa wanted to say something.

"You should wait outside," Rozen said decisively. "Although I'm unsure of the power or numbers of the Guardian Knights, or exactly what kind of enemies they are, you've seen my speed and aerial combat skills. Even if I can't defeat them, I can evade every enemy and head straight to the top of the World Tree. If it comes to that, you'd only be left behind."

In other words, this World Tree challenge was something Rozen was destined to take on alone.

In fact, going alone was probably the most advantageous.

If he couldn't win, he'd simply evade them all. That might be the best approach.

Hearing this, Leafa, though somewhat reluctant, felt reassured knowing Rozen had a plan and wasn't recklessly charging in without thought.

At worst, they'd respawn and rush back from Swilvane.

Seeing Leafa's relieved expression, Rozen knew his persuasion had worked.

"Let's go."

Rozen took Leafa's hand, smiling at her.

"Mm!"

Leafa smiled back.

At the highest point of the central city of Alne...

The roots of the World Tree spiraled together on Alne's cone-shaped cityscape, forming a tree trunk that looked like a twisted wall.

Two colossal statues of elven knights sat on either side of the wall.

And between the statues stood a stone gate with ornate decorations.

Rozen and Leafa flew over from the horizon, landing in front of the gate.

At that moment…

"Foolish fairy, do you wish to enter the royal city?"

The statue on the right suddenly spoke in a deep, rumbling voice. Underneath its solemn helmet, its eyes glowed a bluish-white, looking down at Rozen and Leafa as its voice echoed like rolling rocks.

"Clang!"

A screen appeared in front of Rozen, asking if he wanted to challenge the final mission, with "YES" and "NO" buttons below.

Without hesitation, Rozen pressed "YES."

Then, the statue on the left spoke.

"Then, you must show wings capable of reaching the top."

With those words, the door between the statues began to slowly open, accompanied by a rumbling sound.

Watching this, Rozen smiled.

"This reminds me of the time right before entering the boss chamber on a floor."

The two situations were indeed similar.

Rozen took his first step forward and entered.

"Nii-san!"

Leafa's voice called out from behind.

"Good luck! I'll be waiting for you!"

Rozen did not turn back; he only raised a hand and walked forward.

On this day, this game witnessed for the first time the feat of a solo player challenging the final mission alone.

It would be nothing short of extraordinary.
