The sun hung low in the sky as James and his group approached the massive stone bridge that stretched across the river, its surface worn by centuries of weather and use. The river below roared with a ferocity that set the tone for what lay ahead, the water rushing against the jagged rocks, sending mist into the air.

Sasha, walking beside James, surveyed the bridge with narrowed eyes. "We need to cross it before nightfall," she said. "The last thing we want is to be stuck on this side when the sun goes down."

James nodded, but something about the bridge unsettled him. The stone arches loomed over them like a silent sentinel, and though the path was wide enough for the group to cross in formation, the shadows beneath the bridge seemed to stretch too far, too dark.

Pippy, always the first to sense something amiss, stopped in her tracks and twitched her large bunny ears. "There's something... wrong here. I can feel it."
