Chapitre 56: “Main mission”

After leaving Clover's house, Yamamoto did not head home. He started to go into the dark forest, although he could train in his room he preferred to do it outdoors.

He found a good spot and sat in the lotus position. Without wasting any more time, he began to train in phase 3 of the "Basic Manual of Reiryoku". This consisted of visualization and concentration exercises to accumulate and expand his spiritual energy.

And so the hours passed.

1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours. Yamamoto remained motionless in the same position as before.

Finally, at the fourth hour, he felt a change in his spiritual energy, *Finally...* thought Yamamoto as he opened his eyes.

Before he could open the status window to verify that his Spiritual Power had risen 1 point, the system's characteristic sound rang in his mind and a window appeared in front of him that read as follows:

[DING! Emergency Mission Completed! Congratulations on completing the emergency mission within the deadline]

Reading this Yamamoto smiled, he instantly knew that indeed his spiritual power must have gone up by 1 point and reached 15% of progress.

[You have completed the Emergency Mission in less than half the set time! A great achievement! For this you are rewarded with: 3 skill points and 300 merit points]

*That's good news* said Yamamoto with surprise, as it was an emergency mission he didn't know if the system would reward him. From the system message he got the reward thanks to the fact that he did it in a short time, his decision to go in search of a secondary mission was very wise.

Before Yamamoto could open the status window to see his new progress and distribute the skill points, the system made another message appear in front of him.

[The requirements to start the main mission were met. Starting the main mission... ]

Yamamoto looked expectantly at the system window in front of him. He would finally know what this main mission was all about.

After several seconds, another message finally appeared:

[Choose which side you will belong to: Good Side - Evil Side]

[Choose carefully. The objectives and future missions that will be provided will be based on the choice you make]

*What?* thought Yamamoto without expecting a choice.

Immediately Yamamoto was about to choose the Good Side, but when he read the second message he stopped.

¿What did the system consider good and bad? What he did do in the Kingdom of Ilisia, what category would he fall into? After all, he killed a Marine, a Celestial Dragon, and a King.

If he chose the side of good and had to start looking out for his actions it would be very annoying.

After a few seconds of contemplation, Yamamoto chose the Side of Good. Even if he had killed those 3 people, he considered that he had done good. Firstly, a king who accepted slaves and had multiple slave stores in his kingdom. Secondly, an airhead marine wants to arrest him and the Ohara archaeologists when they are innocent. And, thirdly, a Celestial Dragon. This last one didn't need to be explained.

[Congratulations, you have chosen the side of justice! From now on you can earn merit points as follows:

1- Save weak and innocent people who are in dangerous situations such as: being attacked by pirates. -Being enslaved no matter who the enslaver is. -People who are in a corrupt kingdom starving and being mistreated. -Corrupt marines...

The more people you can save the more points you earn. And if you face powerful opponents who are performing such evil acts, you will also receive bonus points.

2- Saving people in difficult situations is a good act, but what happens when you leave and the next day another criminal arrives to torment them? It is also important to give them protection so that the evil ones don't dare to mess with the weak and defenseless.

The more people accept your protection, the more points you earn. You will earn points every month, on the first of each month. Remember the following; the person or group of people be it a town, city or kingdom must agree with themselves if they decide to follow you and be under your protection. You cannot force them. You can also get subordinates or companions who decide to choose you as a leader, those people will also count.

As you have chosen the side of good you have certain restrictions. Every time you perform an act considered evil (for example: killing innocent people, enslaving people, drug dealing, exploiting people for labor...) you will be punished. The punishment is to decrease your merit points every time you perform such evil acts. Remember that this does not fall on you alone. People under your command and protection cannot perform evil acts either. If any of them perform an act, your merit points will be reduced.

]

It was the first time Yamamoto had seen such a long message from the system, after a few minutes he finished reading it. There were a lot of examples of what the system considered evil. Luckily there were no restrictions such as murdering someone who wants to kill you.

This way Yamamoto could get more merit points, as every time he saves someone he will earn points and he will also get points if people decide to accept to be under his command. The latter way is the best, as he can earn merit points passively.

However, for this, you need to have a territory like the Yonko. Or go to war against the World Government in the weaker seas and conquer islands. As long as the people on each island agree.

The good thing is that at the moment he has an island, and although he does not consider it as his own, it serves as a base to create a bigger and bigger village.

Regarding the restrictions, he didn't give them much importance since he never planned to commit such evil acts.

*Creating the Revolutionary Army will be a good starting point* Yamamoto thought.

Finding Dragon, Kuma, and Ivankov came in handy now that he had this main mission. On the other hand, the main mission had no time limit. In short, it was about saving weak people, getting them to join you, thus acquiring more territories, and so on.

Yamamoto knew that by carrying out such acts, the World Government and even the most powerful pirates wouldn't just stand by and watch as he gained territories and followers. So, there would always be a confrontation with them, and an eventual war was highly likely.

However, Yamamoto was not bothered by this. It could even be said that it aligned with his goal of creating a fairer society in this unjust world with Celestial Dragons, the corrupt World Government, and criminals all over the sea.

After a few minutes, the system message slowly dissipated. This time, Yamamoto opened the status screen, noticing his new 3 skill points and that his merit points had increased from 2,100 to 2,400.

But something else caught his attention even more. Now, in the status screen, there was a new category, just below the progress section.

[Name: Fudo D. Yamamoto

Template: Shigekuni Yamamoto Genryūsai

Progress = 15%.

People under your command = [25]

...

]

Seeing the number 25 Yamamoto began to think. As for the archaeologists not counting him, there were 10 in total counting Robin. Then there were Ramses and the other 4 ex-slaves, which would give a total of 15 people. From the way they addressed him, he knows they will stay here and be part of the village, as they have no other place to go.

Then there were the 7 ex-Marines, who were already starting to like it here, and even Lego wanted to sacrifice himself so that Olvia and the others could escape. That gives a total of 22 people. There is also Saul who deserted from the Marines and decided to follow them. Although Yamamoto doesn't believe that the giant is under their protection, he knows that Saul sees him more as a leader.

For a total of 23 people. There were still two people left. The first people that came to his mind were Bokuden and Apis. He doubted since they lived here from the start, but by saving Apis they may have taken him as some sort of leader, that was the only thing Yamamoto could think of to get to 25 people.

After that, there's Dragon, Kuma, and Ivankov, but he didn't count them, since they still didn't talk about creating a Revolutionary Army or anything like that, so they're just acquaintances.

And he sees it difficult for Dragon to accept in the short term to be under his command.

And lastly, there were Tesoro and Stella. That as he had not yet spoken well with them, they could not be considered to be under his protection, even if he had saved them.

*Tomorrow I'll talk to the two of them, the more people I have, the more merit points I'll earn* Yamamoto thought as he stood up. He felt how his legs were asleep. He had spent more than 4 hours sitting in the same position.

He didn't know how many merit points he would earn for each person he had, but he reckoned that 25 people was not a bad number to start with. He still had the same merit points as before, this was because it was not yet the 1st of the month.

He walked quickly home, his eyelids closing tired from the busy day.

Tomorrow he would think about how to distribute the 3 new skill points he had.
