Silas waited till Boudicca's breathing slowed to an even deep cadence and then he walked to a corner of the ruin wondering if it would be still there. An Explore Note, as finding these pieces of history left by Helena and other former survivors, scattered across the different maps gave an experience bonus that lasted for a decent while doubling and some quadrupling the experience earned for a short time.
After having a look around, Silas found a metal box that had been set into the cobblestone floor of the ruin itself. Although the buildup of rust along its bottom and alongside the tight fit of the box in the small indent made it difficult, it came free with a slight scrape of metal on stone. Silas after making sure Boudicca hadn't awoken popped the latch on the box and lifted the lid back revealing a rough piece of parchment.
Unfurling it, Silas immediately felt the already familiar rush of experience. He could see the depiction of a hard-shelled cephalopod with squid-like tentacles with notes and a tag that gave the scientific name, the time it lived, its habits, and its temperament. Before a voice sounded in his head with an Australian accent, "Usually found in the deepest parts of the water around the island, Amonitina multiamicus has a strange relationship with the other creatures of the deep. It must do something beneficial for them since every nearby sea creature defends Ammonitina when it is attacked. What this distinct symbiosis is based on, alas, I have not yet discovered. Ammonitina has also made its way into the deeper parts of many underwater caves. Even within these caves, the creature will draw attention if assaulted, making harvesting its resource-rich shell a tricky proposition, depending on what other dangers may be lurking nearby."
There was a pause before the voice Silas knew to be Helena's when she lived on the island began again, "Like many of the untameable ocean dwellers, Ammonitina still has enough utility to be a valuable hunting target. If a tribe is willing to risk the wrath of nearby would-be protectors, Ammonitina bile can be harvested from the innards of its corpse. This bile can then be worked over with other chemicals to produce powerful concoctions, the most notable being a mixture that causes creatures to become enraged and attack the source of the scent."
The Ammonite dossier was one of many creature dossier's that Helena had scattered across the island to teach others about the creature's here. Silas looked down at the parchment in his hand that seemed perfectly preserved despite the wear of years past since Helena lived here. Silas had a theory that Helena had actually made the explorer notes of both the lore and her creature dossiers an integral part of the system that spawns new resources and creatures on the ark. It otherwise made little to no sense for such valuable pieces of information to not have been collected and then lost to time over the years.
Silas had settled back down in his spot on watch, deciding to show Boudicca the dossier in the morning. He wondered if he just showed it to her would she be able to get the exp multiplier as well?
Looking out into the darkened landscape and waters beyond their campsite, Silas couldn't help but chuckle at the unbelievable circumstances he found himself in. Just yesterday, he was a below average working adult struggling to get by, and now he's got the body of an Olympic athlete stuck in a time and place that are straight out of a sci-fi game with an ancient warrior queen as a companion.
Suddenly, Silas noticed a light spark to life in the distance followed by several more. Silas quickly snuffed out the fire in case they were hostile. A ring of lights quickly formed illuminating the structure they were atop. A massive wooden wall enclosed the hillside on the other side of the water. Figures patrolled across the top of the wall in an orderly pattern.
Despite the initial alarm at seeing the torches, Silas settled back in position as it seemed like no movement was made from the gate he could see from here. Meaning the people there were either friendly or at the very least not aggressive enough to attack at night when the predators of the ark prowled about.

Boudicca awoke to darkness with a gasp as she was lightly shaken, and she had to resist the urge to lash out as her nightmare of that night was still fresh in her mind. Her daughters faces and the faces of her people accusing her of dooming them all, and then the gleeful roman soldiers running her people through on a spear or gutting them with a gladius. Her eyes were wild and panicked as her breathe came in ragged pants, but as she looked into the concerned eyes of her companion her breathing eased.
She spoke to Silas who seemed to still be worried for her as she drew her legs up to her chest, "Sorry... Ghosts of my past haunted my sleep. It's nothing, don't worry about it."
She then questioned Silas, "Why is the fire out?"
His reply came in a single gesture to the hillside on the other shore of the inlet they were on. The fortified structure with the visible patrols that wasn't visible in the failing light when they settled in now brightly illuminated. She couldn't help but be happy at the sight of civilization even if she also felt a bit dubious on whether these people would be friendly towards outsiders especially after her run in with the first group of survivors she met.
