"Jade who had been sitting on the couch for almost two hours could not help but ask. "Was that woman...Gloria the sea goddess? and how did you know that she was a goddess?" "It's because of this." Alvin said as he unbuttoned his shirt for her to see a dark blue diamond shaped marking on his chest near his left shoulder. "My mother had always told me that if one helps a super natural creature, they always leave a mark that would lead them to their helper. They don't take it easily like humans do with a simple thank you." Alvin said and instead of him buttoning his shirt, he removed it which made Jade to quickly avert her gaze.
Alvin's lips pulled up into a smug when he saw how uncomfortable Jade was. She had enough courage to come with him in his bedroom but it was difficult for her to look at his bare chest. Jade who had had a glimpse of his muscular body wanted to take a quick peek and see more but the sane side of her warned her. Now that she was feeling uncomfortable around him, she wondered how she followed him naively into his room. "You don't want to hear the rest of the story?"
Alvin asked innocently which made Jade turn to look at him but she turned to look elsewhere when their eyes met. "I would like to be excused right now. I would like to hear the story after you have put on a shirt." Jade replied.
Instead of doing what Jade told him, Alvin got up from the bed and walked past the couch that jade was sitting on. Jade had seen the way he was looking at her when he was going towards her and that predatory gaze made her dizzy. Her relief did not last long because Alvin put his arms on either side of her shoulders and slowly lowered his head and leaned closer to her right cheek. "Having you around feels like the best achievement I have Jade but what irritates me is the thought that even though you are here I can't do what I have been yearning to do with you. I'm obsessed with your mere presence my lovely girl so don't ever think of leaving me." He said with a deep edgy voice.
Jade was totally shocked and embarrassed. They had been having a very interesting conversation a few moments ago but the weird so_called king changed the story into his interests. "I don't think I'm the right person for you your highness. You can have any girl you want but..." "But I chose you jade. You are not those other women. I did not have any plans of spending the rest of my life tied to anybody but when I saw you, all I wanted was to bring into this room and hide you from the world so that I will be the only person you see when you sleep and when you wake up." Alvin interrupted the girl.
He had seen how much she had been avoiding his gaze and the way those large beautiful eyes kept on giving him side glances. Even as he stood right behind her, he could hear how much her heartbeat had increased its pase. He could see that his presence had started affecting her and he could tell that she was fully aware of his presence with how breathless she was. "I want to know you jade. Apart from that empty smile you give to people, I know there is much more to it." Though Alvin had said a lot, those last words made her eyes moisten. Many people knew her as a jovial girl who was always happy with her life but only a few people knew the real her behind that mask she had always put on. She was a vulnerable girl who had suffered a lot ever since she came to existence but nobody cared because she had never shown her pain to anybody, but this stranger did not need to be told anything because it seemed as if he could see through her.
"I don't have a past like yours.....I did not grow up with servants attending to me or fight enemies from other kingdoms. I grew up just like a normal child. So there is nothing much to tell." She finally spoke up when Alvin increased the distance between their faces. "When you will be free to speak your heart out, I will be here to listen. You look tired now, you should rest. There will come a day when you won't have any time to rest my dear sweet girl." Alvin said without opening much about what he meant. "Take me home. I want to go back to my family." Jade said as she stood up and straightened up her skirt. Though he had saved her from vampires, she did not think that she would be safe with him. "There is no need to hurry my sweet, I thought that we were getting to know each other better. Look at us, spending a whole hour alone, behind these closed doors where no one can disturb us. I wonder what people might be thinking." Alvin's words made Jade blush but she tried to cover it with anger that was boiling from her insides. "How did a beautiful kingdom like Avianna end up with such a shameless king?!" She asked herself.
"I have told you severally that I will never let you go jade not in this life or the next. It is not everyday that one gets to fall in love especially the night creatures. We only get to have one life partner and you are mine. So, will you be comfortable in my bed or should I move you into another room?" Alvin asked but jade was not ready to choose any of them. "I don't want any." She answered but Alvin was not ready to give her another choice. "Okay then, we will just use my bed." He said and started to remove his slacks. "I will move into the other room." Jade said. She did not want to see him unashamedly remove his clothes. "That's what I thought my sweet girl." Alvin said with a smile of satisfaction.
