Chapitre 6: Going Home with Daddy
Soft couldn't hold back her tears anymore. "Wuwu… I don't want to cry, but I can't help it. Soft is so sad."
Mu Shen lowered his head, and though the little girl didn't look up, he could feel her tears wetting his pants as she buried her face in them. Her shoulders shook as she clung tightly to his pants.
"Wuwu…" Little White, the white puppy, anxiously barked and kept nudging the little monk's body.
Everyone around couldn't bear to see her like this, feeling sympathetic for the little girl who had mistakenly chosen the most difficult person to cling to.
They were all thinking this way, but then Mu Shen's words made them wonder if they were hearing things.
"Let's go." Mu Shen hesitated for a moment and then picked her up.
Even though it was uncomfortable being held this way, Soft Soft suddenly looked up with hopeful eyes, asking carefully, "Daddy… Daddy won't leave Soft soft, right?"
Mu Shen deeply gazed at the pretty little monk, his throat twitching slightly before he finally said, "Mm."
The people behind were stunned to hear Mu Shen's response.
But that one word seemed to inject new life into Soft soft. Her face lit up with a bright smile, and her beautiful eyes turned into crescent moons. Her plump lips stretched into a sweet smile, showing her tiny, white teeth.
This was the first time she smiled so happily today.
She looked like a little fairy sitting down, and her joyous smile infected everyone around, brightening up their moods unconsciously.
"This little girl is so adorable." Li, the assistant, couldn't help but murmur while looking at Soft Soft's small face.
What kind of luck did the CEO have? He went out for a trip and came back with a daughter and such an exquisite one at that. I even wanted to adopt her.
"Ah, so cute!" The secretary was usually very serious at work, always looking like she wanted to emulate Mu Shen. But now, she couldn't help but scream softly due to Soft Soft's cuteness.
However, as soon as I looked at her, she quickly regained her serious expression. But her eyes couldn't help but keep glancing toward Soft Soft, and she was internally squealing.
"Daddy, can you wait a moment? I… I want to thank Grandma."
Earlier, Grandma Wu helped her speak up, so she wanted to thank her for her assistance.
Under Soft Soft's hopeful gaze, Mu Shen nodded and put her down.
With a radiant smile on her face, Soft Soft held Mu Shen's large hand and rubbed her cheek against it. Then she started walking towards Grandma Wu.
"Grandma Wu, thank you for speaking up for me. Soft has found Daddy and will be going back with him. Grandma, please take good care of yourself. Soft will come back to visit you often."
Grandma Wu looked at the child in front of her, her heart melting. She squatted down, touching Soft Soft's bald head, and her wrinkles deepened with her smile.
"Alright, it's good that you've found your Daddy. You must be obedient when you're with him so he'll like you. If you're ever bullied, come find Grandma, and Grandma will take care of you. Although Grandma doesn't have much money, she can still make sure you won't go hungry."
Soft nodded earnestly and then rummaged in her bag, taking out a few red apples and handing them to the villagers who had helped her. For each person she gave the fruit, she sincerely thanked them.
Everyone was touched by the little monk's attitude. Initially, they were just standing up against the woman's behavior, but they didn't expect the child to be so well-mannered and grateful.
As for the couple who had been loud and aggressive earlier, they quickly slinked away with their son, feeling they couldn't afford to provoke these people. Especially when they heard Soft Soft call the man "Daddy," they were scared out of their wits.
After expressing her thanks, Soft Soft turned back with a little white ball following beside her. Together, they ran back to Mu Shen.
"Daddy, let's go," Soft Soft happily held Mu Shen's big hand. Daddy's hand was so warm and soft.
Holding Daddy's hand, Soft soft smiled even more brightly. Her bright eyes seemed to be filled with stars, twinkling and making it hard for anyone to look away.
However, everyone else was alarmed by this action of Soft Softs, their hearts tensing up. Li, the assistant, and the secretary were chanting the Buddha's name internally, afraid that the little monk might be thrown away heartlessly by the ruthless CEO.
I even started thinking about how to comfort the little girl later.
However, the thing they feared didn't happen.
Mu Shen just glanced at the little hand that Soft Soft held and then continued walking as if nothing happened. In a place where others couldn't see, his fingers tightened slightly. Her hand was so soft, just like her name, Soft soft.
With his long legs, Mu Shen's strides were big, and Soft Soft had to jog to keep up with him. After walking for a while, the little girl's face turned slightly flushed, and sweat started appearing on her nose and forehead.
Mu Shen glanced at her, and though she was panting heavily, she didn't complain about being tired. She just kept holding his hand tightly, struggling to keep up with his long strides.
