Chapitre 85: A Risky Game: Unveiling the Mole and the Pursuit of Revenge

Carl's response was a wry smile. "She has her own unique way of handling things. Trust me, she's good at what she does. Now, let's prepare for the meeting. We need to be ready for anything."

Suddenly, the entire house they were in was covered by a pink gas, before any of them were able to do a thing, they suddenly found themselves inside a warehouse.

"That was the same power that teleported me in this region before," Nacht said with a shocked expression as Blorg nodded as the same happened to him.

"So, the reason why we were unable to simply teleport out of the forest was because you didn't want to call that 'friend' of yours before," Nacht said with slight anger as he stared at Carl who merely nodded his head.

"She is powerful, but you all know that those who are highly ranked can't simply use their powers whenever they wish to, if I had asked, she would have gotten us out, but that would have placed her in danger as well as the HA might notice her tracks and started searching for her."

"The situation was not dire enough for me to call for her help, this time it is different, the risk she needs to take is much lower than before, so I decided to call for help in the end."

As they waited for Carla's arrival, they made a quick assessment of their surroundings. The meeting place they had chosen was an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. It provided a degree of seclusion and security, but they couldn't afford to be complacent.

Nacht created an additional layer of distortion around the warehouse, making it even more difficult for anyone to detect their presence. Meanwhile, Luna and Rex extended their senses to scan the area for any potential threats.

Rex, always the strategist, began formulating a plan for the interrogation. "We need to be methodical about this. We can't afford to let the mole slip through our fingers or withhold information."

Blorg, his mechanical limbs whirring softly, added, "And we should be prepared for resistance. The mole may not go quietly."

Carl glanced at them before shaking his head, "Don't worry so much, the mole will probably give us any information we wish to hear without any issues."

Their preparations were interrupted by the sound of footsteps echoing through the warehouse. In a couple of moments, they could see a figure walking toward them.

"Hey there, babe," Carla greeted them with a playful grin. "I brought our guest of honor."

Carl gave her a grateful nod. "Thanks for your help, Carla."

Carla snapped her fingers, revealing a bound and gagged individual hanging from a steel beam next to them. It was clear that the mole had been captured and was now at their mercy.

Carla merely snapped her fingers again, causing the mole to wake up and his body to slowly float down to the ground, right in front of Carl and the others.

"You can interrogate him, he will tell you anything you wish to know."

Nacht stepped forward and removed the gag from the mole's mouth, revealing a face filled with fear and resignation.

"Who are you, and why did you betray the VSA?" Nacht demanded, his voice laced with authority.

The mole hesitated for a moment, then sighed. "My name is Vincent. I used to be a small-time villain until the Hero Association caught wind of my abilities. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Protection, wealth, and a fresh start. All I had to do was feed them information."

Rex narrowed his eyes. "Information about us? About the VSA?"

Vincent nodded. "Yes, about your operations, your identities, your plans. They promised to wipe my record clean and keep me safe. I thought I could do it without anyone noticing."

Carl's expression was a mix of anger and disappointment. "You jeopardized all of us for your own gain. Do you realize what you've done?"

"Well, we are all villains, isn't that something we all do?" Blorg asked from the side with a slightly confused expression which made Carl blink twice before he sighed and nodded.

Vincent's shoulders slumped. "I know it was wrong, but I was desperate. I had nothing, and they offered me a way out."

Luna, who had been observing Vincent's emotions, spoke up. "He's telling the truth. He's genuinely remorseful for what he's done."

Blorg crossed his arms which were covered by two mechanical gloves. "Remorse won't undo the damage he's caused. We need to decide what to do with him."

Carla chimed in. "He has connections within the Hero Association, you could potentially use Vincent as a double agent. Feed them false information while keeping them in the dark about our true plans."

Nacht considered the suggestion. "It's risky, but it might be our best option. We can't afford to let the Hero Association continue to use him against us."

Vincent looked up, hope flickering in his eyes. "I'll do it. I'll help you take them down. Just please, give me a chance to make things right."

Carl sighed. "Very well, Vincent. But know this: one false move, and we won't hesitate to deal with you as a threat."

With their decision made, they began to discuss their next steps. Vincent would need to maintain the trust of the Hero Association while secretly feeding them disinformation. It was a dangerous game, and the stakes were high.

As they delved deeper into their plans, Carla suddenly furrowed her brows before she closed her eyes.

"Trouble," she said, looking up at the group. "The Hero Association has launched a series of coordinated raids on known villain hideouts. They're cracking down on us."

"It seems that your actions really made them angry, they are using all the information that was given to them by Vincent to attack us, dealing with as many villains as they can."

Nacht cursed under his breath. "They're not wasting any time. We need to act quickly and decisively. Vincent, you'll need to return to the Hero Association and feed them the false information as soon as possible."

Vincent nodded, a determined look in his eyes. "I'll do it. Just give me the details of what you want me to say."

As the group began to formulate a plan to counter the Hero Association's raids, they knew that time was of the essence. The battle between heroes and villains was escalating, and they were caught in the midst of it.

Carl returned back home the same evening. Nacht, Blorg, as well as the others, stayed in the same region for now. They could be teleported back by Carla whenever they wished, but they knew that Silver Strike and the other heroes were still present, and if the opportunity presented itself, they wanted to use it to deal with them.

"I won't be able to use my abilities for a short period of time, otherwise the HA might notice it, so try to stay out of trouble for the time being, because I won't be able to help you."

"Don't worry, if not for the immediate need to find the mole in fear of him being able to find out more about us and send more information to the HA, potentially allowing them to also learn about you, Angela, and Isabella, I wouldn't have asked for your help this time either."

"The mission has failed, but it was not as if we didn't get anything from it, now I have a better understanding of Silver Strike's strength, as well as his high importance in the HA."

"If I can eliminate him, then I will be able to get a lot of benefits from the VSA, they will probably relocate me to one of the main regions as well, the situation in such regions is completely different from a mid-grade region such as ours."

"Is that really the reason for all of this, or is it because he is Golden Strike's son?" Carla asked from the side, causing Carl to tense up as the glass in his hand suddenly cracked.

"So, you know."

"I thought I told you from the start that I knew everything about you Carl," Carla said as she smiled at Carl while playing with her hair.

"Seeking revenge is nothing to be ashamed of, you are not a hero, nor are you a normal person, you are a handler, as well as a villain, so trying to inflict as much pain on Golden Strike as he had inflicted upon you is nothing shocking."

"I just hope that in the future, you're able to remain cool-headed and not take such a dangerous mission simply because of your rage and revenge, keeping a cool head and making sure you can successfully finish the mission is of the greatest importance, everything else is second."

"I don't want you sacrificing your life in order to kill a hero, that is something you will see heroes do, not us villains."

"We scheme, we create chaos, we kill, we don't do dumb things like the one you did today," Carla stated with a serious expression.

"Of course, there are plenty that do such things, I just hope you don't become one of them."
