Rain didn't believe that he had any other option in that situation. He had to accept the offer. The reasons for that were the fact that he would probably earn more, and if he made himself invaluable, then Branden would do his best to stay on his good side. At the same time, it was the best option for Rain to be more effective in the war and try to change its outcome a bit.
