Chapitre 58: Strange Ship
AAAARRRHH
My head hurt so bad that I couldn't help but stop. I grabbed my head with my hands and screamed in pain. Something was constantly clicking in my head. In one moment something exploded in my eyes and I was completely blind. My ears and nose started to bleed.
Almost every Category 4 Kaiju had some kind of weapon to effectively kill and fight the Jaegers. There were Kaiju that could spit acid, Kaiju that could send out an electromagnetic pulse that could shut down a Jaeger in an instant, and Kaiju that could fly. These three monsters were the ones shown in the movie.
It didn't matter that I became strong enough to fight these monsters, they would always be one step ahead. This is war! The enemy is constantly inventing something new. It's just impossible for me to be ready for anything they come up with. No intelligence will fix this. Nothing will save me from random attacks. I don't have 1 second of foresight to be ready.
This is my job, which I chose because I had no choice. Such taftology describes my whole life. You have the choice to do whatever you want, but when you choose, it turns out that you don't really have a choice, because the alternative choice is actually something so bad that it will haunt you for the rest of your life in your memories. If people were not given a choice!
As it often happens lately, a decision always comes at a critical moment. Likewise, now that my brain was on the verge of exploding, I quickly lowered my head into the water.
BOMMSHSHSH
Splashes of water rose into the air. Although sound travels better and farther under water than in air, this is only true of sound that originates in the water itself.
There is a big difference between sound vibrations in air and underwater, and this difference creates a barrier that reduces the strength of the sound as it travels through that barrier. But if the Kaiju put his head in the water now, it will be over for me.
Just as the Kaiju was about to dip his head into the water, I suddenly rose above the water and fired a fiery breath at him. Since my senses were already damaged, I simply unleashed a large-scale fire attack straight ahead.
RRRAAAHHHHH
A wide stream of golden flame burst from my mouth and flooded the entire surface of the ocean in front of me.
GGRREEEEEEEE
Kaiju yelled and stopped his sonic attack. I knew he was in front of me, but if I gave him a chance, he would just run away from me and I wouldn't see where he was going. Straining my leg muscles, I ran towards him.
I put my hands out to feel him. And a second later I bumped into him with my feet. This troll dived into the water to extinguish himself. Reaching down, I caught him. I don't know what I caught him for, but I wasn't going to let him go.
My fiery breath began to accumulate and concentrate in my mouth. I was going to make a hole in it like the one in the clone's chest. Veins of light rose up my chest to my throat, but at that moment something caught my throat and began to squeeze it.
The kaiju stretched out its huge clawed hands and grabbed my throat. He wasn't going to just die. He couldn't shoot me with his sonic attack because I held his head underwater, but he found a way to interrupt my most powerful fire attack.
I wasn't worried about the lack of air, but he was squeezing my throat hard enough to cut off the blood flow to my brain. And with the cessation of blood circulation, I stopped concentrating energy to my mouth.
We found ourselves in a stalemate. I couldn't release him because he would immediately rise out of the water and hit me with his sonic attack. Even if I can survive a few more seconds of his sonic attack and try to shoot him with my plasma cannon during those seconds, I just won't hit him because he damaged my eyes.
We continued to fight in such a situation. A power struggle is all we have left. I let him go with one hand and tried to feel his head. He, in turn, stuck his claws into my throat. His claws and hands were huge and could easily wrap around my neck completely. But most of his claws tried to break through my armor from the back of my neck. The only problem was the claws of my thumb that stuck right down my throat.
It hurt quite a bit, but I couldn't scream. I finally understood where his head was at. He is not the only one with strong hands. I grabbed his head from both sides and started squeezing it. I was in dire need of a weapon right now.
The Kaiju screamed underwater and bubbles of air began to rise to the surface of the ocean. He let go of my throat and tried to pull my hands away from his head. I could feel his skull crunching.
Blood circulation resumed and I began charging my fiery breath again. The light kept increasing and when it reached the brightest state, I opened my mouth.
PPPRRRR
A fast, bright and thin beam hit the Kaiju in the head right between the eyes.
BOOOMSHSHS
Due to rapid heating, the water exploded and covered the entire area around us with a thick fog. After a while, a Titan emerged from the fog, dragging a Kaiju with a hole through his head.
The entire ocean around their battle site was covered in dead fish, stunned by the Kaiju's underwater sonic attack.
POV: Yun
"He did it! He defeated this Atticon (this Kaiju's official name)!" Yun was happy when she saw Torterra defeat Atticon on her mobile. Their fight was broadcast on Korean television. Aerial drones always circled near the city and filmed everything.
She has not yet been able to call her parents, who lived in Korea, because when disasters happen, the connection is lost first. All people are trying to call their relatives and mobile communication simply cannot cope with such a large number of users. Her parents were not very progressive, so they never learned how to use the Internet to its full potential.
"Another victory for our friend," said Mr. Smith, who was standing beside her.
While the people on the island were rejoicing, something strange was happening outside the island. A speed yacht was sailing towards them. She looked old and rusty, but her engines were good. At high speed, they sailed straight to the island.
Around the island was a fence of air cushions that held a barrier for the turtle grass underwater. The ship was sailing at high speed and hit this fence. Air cushions sank into the water and floated under the ship.
"What kind of ship is this?" Alejandro noticed a ship sailing towards them in the distance. "How did military patrols miss him? What's going on here?"
Everyone heard his words, so they stopped what they were doing and looked in the same direction as Alejandro.
A strange ship that seemed to be empty was already near the island and was about to dock with it.
"It's an attack! All to arms!" The head of the base shouted and began to give orders.
Yun was shocked at what was happening. As soon as the base commander shouted an attack, people looked out of the ship and started shooting at them.
AAAII
Yun screamed as bullets started flying past her.
"Yun! Smith! Quickly hide in the middle!" Alejandro ran up to them. He took Yun's hand and pulled her along. Mr. Smith ran after them. He was a simple archaeologist and did not even play sports, let alone fight criminals.
Bullets flew in all directions, as if the attackers did not even aim. The thugs waved their assault rifles as if they were watering their lawn with hoses, not worrying whether they would hit or not. But there were a lot of them.
Yun and Mr. Smith entered the underground bunker.
"Stay here!" Alejandro said and started closing them inside.
"Wait! Wait! Wait!" Yun wanted to stop him and pull him inside, but she didn't have time and Alejandro locked her and Mr. Smith in the bunker while he returned to his men to do his job as a guard.
"What about the Jaeger? How could they attack us when we had a Jaeger on the island?" Yun began to think quickly. Behind the door, she heard gunshots and several explosions.
"I heard there was a pilot rotation this morning. The new pilots haven't arrived on the island yet." Mr. Smith replied.
"It can't be a coincidence! How did the military miss them! Why at this very time, when neither Oppa nor the Jaeger pilots are on the island. Someone has betrayed us. There is a traitor in our midst!" Yun could not find a place for herself and walked back and forth in the corridor of the bunker.
BOOM
An explosion rang out directly above them and dust fell on top of them, but the bunker itself was not damaged.
"It doesn't have to be a person from this island. Anyone in the military and even civilians involved in securing this base could tell the criminals when to attack." Mr. Smith replied. After these words there was silence. Only the sounds of gunshots could be heard.
