"Well, let's kick her out," said Kier. "We could make her think she can stay and then teleport her away anyways. That should be fun."
"Why do you want to drive everyone away?" asked Ina.
"Why don't you? You didn't come to live in this forest expecting company, did you?" Kier tapped Ina's bag of Components. "And I'd be willing to bet Dit's favor you're not even sure you want to share it with me."
Ina breathed out, defeated, but held Kier's look. Kier closed his eyes. He was right, but did not enjoy it. He opened his eyes to look at Peppermint in Ina's arms and scratch her head. The fox allowed the Mage to do so, but looked sternly at him, sour that he exposed Ina. He smiled. She snorted. He chuckled.
"And I saw your eyes moistening as the trees fell," said Kier.
The fox tilted its head in confusion, thinking the Mage was talking to her, but then looked up to see Ina's eyes.
"You have a stand to make, Witch. Stand," he concluded.
