Chapitre 9: 9.

Sarah's heart raced as she read the note left on her bed. Her eyes darted through the message, widening in shock and surprise with each word. She read the message out loud, her voice trembling with fear and disbelief.

"Aren't you tired of the monotony of living that artificial existence you call your life? Hate to break it to you, but it isn't your life. You're living a fabrication created by the organization that helped turn you into what inevitably led you into your own cell, which you ignorantly accepted as your life. Keep your eyes open for our next point of contact. Trust no one."

Sarah's mind raced with questions. Who was behind this message? She couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She scanned the room, looking for any signs of a break-in, but everything seemed undisturbed.

She had seen those types of things in movies, so she tried to brush it off as a prank. But something about the note made her uneasy.

As she searched through her bedroom, she couldn't find anything suspicious. She continued looking throughout her apartment, but still couldn't find anything. After searching for around an hour, she laid down in bed and tried to turn on her bedroom light. As she was laying in bed, she noticed a slight but small circular shadow almost invisible to the eye coming from her ceiling fan light.

Sarah's heart raced as she got up on her bed and unscrewed the lightbulb.

Panic set in as Sarah's eyes locked onto the small, circular device in the ceiling fan light. She knew that it was a recording device, but she didn't know who had put it there or how long it had been recording her. Her heart raced as she tried to think of what to do next.

Her mind raced with questions. Who put it there? How long had it been recording? What had it captured? Fear and anxiety coursed through her veins as she considered the possibilities.

She couldn't let anyone know that she had found the device. She decided to carefully place it back and pretend like she never found it. She hoped that whoever put it there wouldn't suspect anything.

With trembling hands, she unscrewed the light bulb and placed the device back in its hiding spot. Her heart pounded as she tried to keep her breathing steady. She pretended to dust off the lightbulbs, trying to keep her movements as natural as possible.

As she left the room, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She didn't know if the person behind the recording device was still watching her, but she knew that she had to be careful. She was on edge, constantly looking over her shoulder and watching her every move.

Sarah's heart was pounding as she answered the phone, her mind still reeling from the discovery of the recording device in her apartment. She tried to sound calm and composed as she spoke to her best friend, Mia, but her voice still shook with fear.

"Hey, Mia. I'm just hanging out at home," Sarah said, trying to sound casual. "How about you?"

Mia's voice was filled with concern. "Are you okay? You sound a little off."

Sarah took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. She wasn't sure if she could trust her best friend after finding the recording device and the note. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just trying to deal with my dad's disappointment, you know how it is," she lied.

Mia was silent for a moment. Sarah could tell that she was trying to figure out if something was wrong. "Do you want to talk about it?" Mia asked.

Sarah hesitated. She didn't know if she could trust Mia, but she needed someone to talk to. "Actually, I think I just need some more time to myself."

As Sarah ends the phone call, she hears a loud knock on her door. She walks over to her door, her heart pounding in her chest. She peeks out through the peephole to see who it is, but she can't see anyone. She hesitates for a moment before opening the door.

To her surprise, it's her neighbor, a tall and muscular man. He looks agitated and nervous. Sarah opens the door and asks if he needs anything, but before she can finish her sentence, he pushes her back inside her apartment. She falls on the floor, tripping backwards.

Sarah's heart races as she struggles to get up, but her neighbor is too strong. She tries to scream, but he covers her mouth. She feels a sharp pain on the back of her head and everything goes black.

The next thing Sarah knows, she's waking up in her bedroom with no memory of the night before. She tries to sit up, but her head is pounding, and she feels dizzy. She looks around the room, trying to figure out what happened. Her heart races as she realizes that something terrible must have happened last night.

Sarah's mind races as she tries to piece together what happened. She remembers being pushed and hit on the head, but nothing else. She tries to get up, but her legs feel weak, and she stumbles. She sees that her clothes are torn and her body aches. She reaches for her phone to call for help, but it's not there.

Panic sets in as she realizes that she's alone and helpless. She hears a noise outside her bedroom door. Her heart races as she realizes that her neighbor might still be in her apartment. She tries to stay quiet and still, hoping that whoever it is will go away.

Mia answers the phone and Sarah hears her voice on the other end. Sarah can hear the concern in Mia's voice as she asks if she's okay. Mia tells Sarah that they went clubbing last night and that she must have had too much to drink. Sarah is confused and asks her if she's serious. Mia lies to her and tells her that they went out together and that she must have blacked out. Sarah is still confused and doesn't remember anything about going out last night.

Sarah hangs up the phone and starts to question herself. She wonders if her neighbor coming over was just a bad dream or if something really did happen last night. The more she thinks about it, the more confused she becomes. She tries to remember anything about going out with Mia, but she can't.
