"Rhyland, are you breaking up with me?"

Aubrey repeated the question.

She looked at the man but he refused to speak.

Beside him, Natasha cackled.

"Rhyland Darling, tell me the truth." Aubrey asked, her lips trembled and her voice broke.

When Rhyland finally met Aubrey's gaze, she could see that his eyes were red. This was for real.

"Aubrey, I'm sorry." The man finally said.

"So this…. This… is a break up." Aubrey said numbly.

Rhyland bit his lip as he struggled with the onslaught of emotions before nodding, yes. Everything was for Aubrey, for her happiness and her protection. He made the promise with Natasha in order to save her brother. It was also done to keep her continued existence hidden from Rhal. He knew he would have to make good with his promise sooner or later. He just didn't anticipate it to be this soon.

Aubrey looked at the pair in front of her, feeling betrayed.
