"Now that I think about it, your 12 now. What starter are ya gunning for?" Flint questions as he hums in delight seeing my interest. Hearing this I start to scratch my neck as I think.
It didn't take long though before I thought of the type of Pokemon it should be in the first place.
'It should probably be a rock type.'
The reasoning for this is that "I" stated that I wanted to be a rock-type master the day before this. So it would be pretty weird to suddenly want a different starter as I was pretty adamant about it.
I'm not planning to limit what type I use for my team, but I will get a few rock-type Pokemon.
"I want an Aron." I state bluntly. It's my favourite Pokemon and is the holder of the typing, Steel. Not only that but its final evolution is a complete monster, with it also being able to mega-evolve in the future.
It's the perfect Pokemon for me to start with.
"An Aron huh, where ya hear of those? They're from the Hoenn region and are quite uncommon." Flint comments while rubbing his chin. "I could contact one of the breeding centres there for an Aron egg or a bundle of them."
Hearing this I get a giddy feeling as we headed inside the Pewter Gym. The place was directly next to the house and was a quick walk. Looking around, it still had some ribbons and mud from the battle yesterday.
"I guess I'll need to hire some people to clean this place up." Flint groans out seeing the state of the gym.
Chuckling at the sight, I get out of my dads grasp and walk over to the other side of the huge rocky battlefield.
'According to Forrest's memories, it the stand should be around here.'
Going around through the walk path, it took a little bit before I was able to get to the Gym Leader's side of the battlefield.
"You remember it right? Just tap your foot on the dark patch and it will pop up cleanly. It makes you look really cool when the challengers face you." Flint shouts from across the Gym.
"Yup!" I shout back as I saw dad pulling out a phone and starting to ring someone. While locating the dark patch, I couldn't help but take a deep look at the inside of the gym.
The gym's battlefield was a huge rocky field made of granite and stone. While outside of that area was just a flat area made of cement which was very spacious.
There were stairs and an elevator to the two upper floors which housed seats and a booth to spectate battles.
'It seems like the gym's equipment and decorations were neglected but the place was still cleaned.' I thought to myself as I finally found the dark patch.
*Tap*
*Zzzzzzzz*
Soon after I tap the floor, a slickly opened up whcich wouldn't be visible to the other side because of the distance. A stand black stand with a matte finish slowly rises up from the ground which it showed six Pokeballs.
"This is it." I say in joy realising this will be my first time seeing a Pokemon. Before taking the Pokeball I start to hesitate.
"Wait what's wrong with me?"
Taking my hand back I start to realise how my mind has already fully integrated as Forrest. I've somehow adapted to this world already.
When I first came into this world I was in a state of panic and in the middle of having a mental crisis. But for some reason I'm alright.
'I'll think about it later.' Thinking this I grab all six Pokeballs and head towards Flint as I would feel safer next to him.
A Pokemon personally trained by the guy wouldn't attack me as that would literally make no sense. Plus I'm pretty sure I'm acquainted and have befriend at least three of the six.
The Pokemon I know of so far are Geodude, Rhydon, Onix and Golem.
"Dad I got the Pokeballs!" I announce as I made my way to him. Flint finishing off his phone call, looks over to me with a huge smile.
"Get over here champ, it's time to show the future gym leader his future Pokemon." He says teasing me. Even as an adult, I couldn't hide the excitement all over my face as I rushed to Flints side.
"Alright can I send the first one out?"
Flint hearing my words just nod at me with a huge smirk. Choosing one Pokeball, I give the rest to Flint as I was still in my pyjamas.
*zzzt* *Phszsszt*
After the first tap, the Pokeball enlarged and with the second tap, the Pokeball opened up and lead a red beam in front of me.
The beam quickly formed into a huge shape which I could identify as a Pokemon with a humanoid body shape but it had scythes as hands and a different shaped head.
"Kabutops!" The Pokemon roars creating a few sound waves which made my hair and clothes fly a little.
'Holy shit, a fossil Pokemon!' I thought looking at the very alive ancient Pokemon in front of me. I know that fossil Pokemon existed but the reason I was surprised is that they are actually rare.
From what I know, the general populace don't even know that there are ancient Pokemon and cold only think of the fossils.
I'm not sure if it was public yet that you could revive fossils. Because at this time of the anime the only examples of them were wild fossil Pokemon in ancient caves, or reviving machines which were private property to rich businesses.
"As intimidating as ever Kab." Flint says with a thumbs up. Kabutops seeing Flint nods its head and somehow gives an eye smile which I recognise.
"He looks so strong, can I pat or touch Kabutops?" I ask eagerly. Flint looking at me with a smug grin, crosses his arms and agrees shortly.
'He must really like impressing his sons.' I chuckle to myself seeing his proud expression. Slowly walking up to Kabutops, I think to myself on where to start.
"I'm gonna pat your head okay?" I tell Kabutops to notify him beforehand.
"Kabutops!" The Pokemon shouts happily as it got closer to me.
Still a little hesitant, I accidentally step backwards but Flint softly pushes me forward encouraging me.
I never had a pet before and never seen a Pokemon, so knowing the amount of power these guys hold I'm a bit scared. But I know they have feelings like me so I should stop acting like a pussy.
"It's alright Forrest, he wont hurt you."
Hearing this I build up my confidence and walk up to the Kabutops as it anticipated my touch.
Now next to the guy, I slowly start to pat his head which was very smooth.
"Woah that really smooth, is it normally like this?" I ask Flint. But to my surprise it isn't. Flint proceeds to tell me that certain Pokemon can retract body parts or alter their body to what they need or want at a certain time.
This shows how well trained the young Kabutops is as from what Flint says, Kabutops usually don't learn this until their later years naturally or honed at a young age.
"Rub the back of its head near the top, it's his favourite spot. I found it out as I had to deal with this trouble maker when I first got him." Flint says with a chuckle.
Adjusting my position I start to rub the back of its head which made it hum in joy.
"Kaboo~" the Pokemon said extremely relaxed. This went on for a few more minutes until Flint stepped in.
"It's time to go now, I'll see you later Kabu." Flint says which makes Kabutops regain its serious expression. Right after this Flint returned Kabutops to its Pokeball.
"Alright who's next?" I ask bridled with joy. Flint looking over at me hesitates a little but ends up handing me a Pokeball.
"You've already seen five of the six Pokemon the gym regulates, so I'll let you see my ace Pokemon." Flint says with a wide grin. "Just don't get too blown away when you see this beauty."
Seeing Dad regain his smug expression, I smirk and release his ace Pokemon.
*Phszszt*
A huge Pokemon started to shape up through the red beam as it towered over myself and Flint. It seemed to be at least six foot.
"Ranitarrrrrr!" The Pokemon roared out which blew me off my feet. Still with a dazed look I didn't realise when my father Flint caught me mid air.
"It's that what you meant by blown away." I mumbled with an awed look. Taking a good glance at the towering Tyranitar in front of me, I just dumbly smile at it.
'It looks so fucking badass. I need to get one.' I thought to myself looking at the beast. The Tyranitar realising what it had done, quickly stops and takes small steps towards us.
"Ty tyra…" it said in a sad tone, most likely apologising. Flint sighing at this, forgives the big guy and let's go of me.
"This beast of a Pokemon was last measured at 8'3 (251cm). Currently the tallest Tyranitar known in Kanto, as I've never heard of others from different regions so I can't compare." Flint says flaunting even more.
In all honesty, Flint just seems like a dad who wants to impress his kids which honestly shows how nice of a guy he his.
From what I remember he takes care of all of my sibling and I with great care as some of my other sibling are my half-brothers.
But he didn't care which makes me respect him even more. From the weeks worth of memory I have, I remember Flint making a joke that the past Husband of his wife ran away from the gym like himself.
"Dad can I have a Larvitar please." I plead giving him the sad look. Flint looking over at Tyranitar scratches his chin.
"I'm not sure as a Larvitar is too much to handle for a new trainer. They can be really aggressive and have been known to sometimes kill their trainer." Flint says which made me gulp my saliva.
"So it's a bad idea?" I say quietly. Flint seeing this smiles and pats my back.
"I'll consider it but you'll need to win at least a few gym badges and get an approval from me." He says which makes me perk up at his words.
'Holy shit I'm actually acting like a kid when I'm not trying to.' I realise as my dad started to explain to me how I would need more experience as a trainer.
It seems like my personality changed a little at being a kid again but that's not all bad as I've got most of the knowledge I truly did not want to forget.
"You should start your own journey next season of the Indigo league son. I should be able to get you an Aron by the end of the year, but for now I'll let you get battle experience by being a gym trainer." Dad tells me which I eagerly accepted.
Become a gym trainer and get experience before journey?
Sign me up!
Id rather not go into battling blind before my actual journey so I don't look like a complete idiot. Because commanding a Pokemon would not be as simple as what people in my world would expect.
You'd need to consider how much stamina, strength, time to load a attack, recover from attacking, and way more stuff that's been written down by Brock in his guide.
"Here take this." Flint says handing me a Pokeball.
"Which Pokemon is this?" I asked curiously.
"It's gonna be your partner till you get a starter. Geodude." Flint announces proudly. With joy clear on my face for the eighth time, I grab the Pokeball with a wide grin.
"We should probably head back to the house now, the time has passed quite fast. Go say hi to Tyranitar for a little bit before we go." Flint says which made me realise Tyranitar was still watching. Turning around with a cold sweat going down my face, I realise that Flint left the gym already.
"Uhhh hi?" I squeak out seeing the 8'3 Tyranitar look at me with its head tilted to the side with a curious look. This would normally make it look cute if it was my size, but it didn't help that it basically doubled my height and quadrupled my width.
"Well this is awkward…"
"Tyra?"
