Chapitre 17: Chapter 16 Ethan vs Lara
"Sister, how do you feel enjoying something that isn't yours?" Lara walked into the bathroom and immediately spotted Lisa washing her hands.
"Oooh, I guess I enjoy it thanks to you," Lisa replied with an arrogant smile before walking past her bumping into her shoulders.
"Are you okay?" Ethan asked.
"Mmh,"
"You seem tired shall we?" Seeing her nod Ethan turned to her grandmother.
"Grandma, we will take out leave Lisa has school tomorrow,"
"No problem you can go," hearing that, they stood up and walked away not bothering about Lara.

The next morning, Ethan drove Lisa to school as usual.
"Lisa, Lisa," that familiar voice drew Lisa and Ethan's attention. It was none other than Larry.
"What are you doing here?" Lisa asked.
"I brought you breakfast pancake jelly that you always love," he smiled brightly and then continued," I'm sorry about yesterday, I should have called you first,"
"What's the difference between yesterday and today?" Lisa's subconscious immediately kicked in.
"I have something to tell you," he said after a while.
"What is it?"
"I like you Lisa, I've loved you ever since..." Before he could continue, Lisa's eyes turned red as she thought about the past.
Ethan immediately alighted from the car and then hurriedly walked towards them, he stretched his hand out and then held Lisa in a possessive manner.
"Darling, are you okay?" He bent his head down.
"Oooh, you are also here," Larry said awkwardly.
"If I'm not here with my wife where else would I be?" As he replied that, he stressed the word wife making Larry uncomfortable.
"I'm capable of taking care of my own wife, you don't need to buy her breakfast," he turned to Lisa and then spoke, "here I got you this your favorite drink,"
"Thank you," Lisa said with a smile.
"And she is allergic to jelly pancakes if you were really her best friend as you claimed you should have known that tiny detail," hearing that, shocked both Lisa and Larry.
Not even her own family cared about her. Jelly pancakes were Lara's favorite so she had to force herself to eat. After eating, she would puke the whole day and end up with a fever. So she didn't expect Ethan to know that she was allergic to it.
"How did you know?" She asked with a smile.
"You are my wife, of course, I know everything about you," he said gently.
"Let's go, I'll walk you to class,"
"Is it okay? Wouldn't you be late for work?"
"I'm the boss and the president who would dare scold me for being late silly," he smacked her nose lightly.
"Now run along,"
"Why don't you go first?"
"Then on the count of three, we both go okay?" Ethan's assistant couldn't help but feel cheesy as he stared at them.
"Very childish," he whispered silently.
"Get yourself a wife," Ethan couldn't help but talk back.
...
"President,"
"Come in," Ethan replied sitting calmly on his king-size office chair.
"Speak," he said his voice slightly cold.
"No news so far, but we..." before he could continue, Ethan smacked his desk loudly interrupting him.
"Why do I pay you a high salary if you can't even get me the information that I want?" He yelled.
"It's...it's..." Suddenly, Kai walked in he gestured for him to go out first.
"What's wrong with you today? You are scaring everyone with your foul mood. I thought having a wife would at least reduce your temper," Ethan didn't reply but instead stared at his phone coldly.
"Ooh, is it about Larry's interview?" Kai finally understood why Ethan became angry all of a sudden.
"We don't even know who he was referring to," he laughed awkwardly before he continued," after all you are now married to Lisa what's your worry?" Hearing that statement, relaxed him and Ethan's tense nerves calmed down a bit.
Seeing that, Kai felt quite relieved.
"So you think I'm more handsome and suitable?" The little hope within Kai vanished instantly after hearing his reply. He couldn't help but facepalm himself.
If it wasn't for the number of doctorates that Ethan held one would suspect him of being quite foolish. He couldn't understand how a man who was so intelligent would be so bad when it came to love.
"Anyway, back to the issue we still need more time,"
"How long?"
"A month or so, it's quite hard locating Lisa's mother with no picture or any information about her,"
"Fine, a month nothing more ooh it's almost time," Ethan stood up as he stared at his watch with a smile.
"Time for what?" Kai asked in confusion.
"You won't understand,"
"Are you going out?"
"Mmh,"
"Where? I'll drive you do we have any appointments today?"
"Not we but I," he smiled foolishly.
"What do you mean by I?"
"I'm going to pick up my wife,"
"Oooh," Kai finally understood him.
"But we still have a lot of work to do,"
"Isn't that your work?"
"I'm not the President,"
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"No,"
"A wife to take out for lunch?"
"No," he replied sadly.
"Then, handle my work," he tapped Kai's shoulder before walking out as he hummed a song.
"Fine, wait and see," Kai clenched his fists.
Ever since Ethan had gotten married, he would arrive late after dropping Lisa off and leave early to pick her up and have lunch with her. By doing so, he had to handle all other piled work including his and the President's which made him overwork and sleep in the office.
But despite all that, Kai felt glad seeing Ethan's heart soften day by day.

"Lisa, have you seen the trending news?" Sandy approached Lisa.
"No, I'm not interested instead of wasting your time why don't you work on your thesis?"
"Mmmh, you are so boring, how can your life be so empty? Apart from working, there is nothing fun that you do," Sandy complained.
"Fine, fine tell me now stop pouting," Lisa immediately stopped what she was doing. This was always Sandy's way of getting Lisa's attention. Sandy immediately smiled after accomplishing what she had wanted.
