Chapitre 26: - A Moment to Escape
Gasping, Hyunji sat up.
Not sparing a moment, she stumbled to her feet.
Anger coursed through her veins. How had she let Bendrir get the best of her? No one had ever beat her like that, so effortlessly.
It wouldn't happen again, she told herself. She wouldn't let it happen again.
Hyunji began to run, closing the distance to Bendrir.
Her boot came in contact with an object, which clattered across the concrete. Kneeling to the ground, she reached out for it. Her dagger, still in one piece.
She wouldn't lose it this time. Smiling, she imagined the dagger stabbing Bendrir in the head.
"Time to make it a reality," she said to herself, and made her way to the sounds of battle just up ahead.

Bendrir stumbled to his feet, his wounds already healing. His right hand didn't grow back. Instead, it scarred over until it was just a bump. Bendrir's left hand reconnected, and the cut disappeared.
"Some power you got there," Kenji noted.
"You haven't even seen the start of it," Bendrir growled. His left fist began to glow purple.
"That's all you have? Glowy powers?" Kenji mocked. "So all I have to do is cut off your other hand? And then you're useless?"
The oxygen began to leave the air again, and Bendrir screamed.
With a steady calm, Kenji again slashed his swords, aiming at Bendrir's left fist. The purple energy began to flow off the fist.
But somehow the energy diverted his swords, so that Kenji only sliced off the thumb and pinkie. The remaining three fingers flicked at him, causing Kenji to fly back a hundred meters. At the last second, he managed to spin himself in the air and land on his feet. He coughed and blood spurted from his mouth.
An anger began to build within his chest, but instead, Kenji took a deep breath. Anger wouldn't get him anywhere. If anything it would hold him back. A part of him wanted to scream at Bendrir, to curse him with every vile word possible. "That was a solid hit," he said instead.
Someone dashed past him. Hyunji.
Kenji watched as she neared Bendrir, her dagger in hand. "You're mine, you cocksucking bastard!!!"
Bendrir's remaining fingers began to glow, and he flicked a sliver of energy at her. The energy hit Hyunji's hand with precision, causing her dagger to clatter to the ground.
He laughed maniacally "Good attempt, rookie. This was a good fight, old man. If we meet again, I'll fucking end you." He jumped. Into the air, fifty feet up. Kenji and Hyunji watched as he collided into a Vaas aircraft.
Crawling his way to the cockpit, one handed, Bendrir pulled open the glass hatch. As the fighter soared through the sky, Kenji could hear the pilot screaming in terror, and a pool of blood rained down on him and Hyunji. A disfigured, decapitated head followed a second later, splatting on the ground at their feet. A final gift from Bendrir.
"Coward!" Hyunji screamed after the fighter as it began to pick up speed. She stared at it angrily until it disappeared into the night sky.
Kenji looked at her with disapproval. "Get your brother. We're getting out of here."
Hyunji opened her mouth, as if she wanted to defy his command. Instead, she began moving toward Min-jun, who was still lying on the ground a few feet away.
Jade limped over, beaten and bruised. "Why are there so many ships in the air?"
Kenji looked up at the dark sky, where hundreds of lights flashed as Vaas fighters descended on Elendir. "We need to get back to the ship. This place is done for."
Hyunji had Min-jun's arms draped across her shoulder, and the two were walking quickly in the direction of the ship.
"Help!" Screamed a voice. Kenji looked over. A man was kneeling on the ground, holding an unconscious woman in his arms. "Please! I can't carry her by myself! I'm not strong enough! Help me save her!"
Kenji looked over at Min-jun and Hyunji desperately. Did he have enough time to save these two strangers? He sighed and went over to them. Kneeling down, he scooped up the woman with one arm.
"I'll help you. Follow me, kid. But dinner's on you."
