Sarell immediately went over to offer his help although he hadn't cooked a single meal in almost two centuries. "Let me help you with that Mam," He offered eagerly.
Sereia handed him the knife and the chopping board without hesitation, going over to do something else while he remained busy with that.
"I'm really happy to see that you're doing okay," Sereia broke the short silence that ensued, her voice heavy.
Sarell paused his actions briefly, "I should be the one saying that."
Sereia shook her head to dispel her tears, "You're too kind Sarell," She praised him, wandering over to sneakily pat his head again.
She had spent the years living with the guilt of trading her child for their survival, she didn't think she could ever forgive herself but even through that burden she had to live with, she would still selfishly enjoy the second chance it had brought them with her children.
