~Talfen, the capital of Coldshore~
~Inner Court, The King's Palace~
Reqiel was forced to take a nap by Sarell, his personal attendant settling on a chair beside the fireplace to watch him the entire time.
Now, Reqiel had no intention of sneaking out but he felt a little bit hurt that Sarell didn't trust him that much. He quickly pushed that out of his mind as he settled into his bed, thinking of the plans that he had for later.
It wasn't what he had been planning to do but he would take it nonetheless, a tour with Princess Aethel would be a perfectly quick way to learn more about the palace. Not to mention, she could get him access to places that would otherwise be restricted for him.
He was mostly just pleased to be allowed to go sightseeing at all on the very first day. While he was at Mistbourne, he hadn't been allowed to do so much as leave his chambers, much less step outside the castle walls.
He was woken up shortly before Princess Aethel said she would be arriving so that he could be dressed and ready in time. Most of the clothes that had been made for him by the King of Mistbourne were done in shades of gold and pale yellow, Reqiel wished he had something more colorful.
He was dressed in the lightest of materials, the outer robe merely a gauzy pale gold material with delicately embroidered symbols at the hem.
"Can I leave my hair down? It's just a casual walk." He asked Sarell when he was all dressed and his personal attendant was about to move to his hair. "Or at the very most, can I go with a loose low ponytail?" He quickly substituted when Sarell looked hesitant.
The high ponytails always gave him a dull headache because of the weight of his hair, he had more or less gotten used to them but now that he was given a chance to avoid them entirely, he would take it.
"Fine," Sarell agreed easily, this was Earth after all, it was allowed for Prince Reqiel to have his hair down. He could even cut it if he wanted to but Sarell wasn't even going to dare to think of that. "I'll leave it down but won't it be in your eyes?" He asked in concern.
Reqiel knew that there was substance in Sarell's question but he was too happy that he had gotten his way to care, "Not at all!" He grinned, heading for the doors of his bedroom to push them open with both hands.
"I don't need an entourage, right? It'll just be me and the Princess in the inner court." He added as he started down the hallway, he wanted to be at the front doors of his palace to receive Princess Aethel personally.
Sarell followed right behind him with an expression of displeasure on his face, he didn't want to let Prince Reqiel out of his sight so soon after they arrived at a new place but he knew that he couldn't protest it. As a matter of fact, that was the only way that things would go unless Princess Aethel brought her own entourage which was highly unlikely.
Right as they got to the front doors of Reqiel's palace, the doors were flung open by guards who were positioned in front of the doors. The opened doors revealed Princess Aethel who was standing all alone in a pale pink dress, her dark brown hair framing her pretty face.
"Aethel! You're right on time!" Reqiel grinned, hurrying over to her side.
The Princess' big dark eyes brightened up when she saw the very person she had come for, "I couldn't be late, of course." She beamed, taking his hand. "Are you ready to leave?" She asked him softly, glancing at Sarell who had the loudest look of disapproval on his face.
"Absolutely," Reqiel agreed, leading the way out. "So where do we begin?"
That was enough for Aethel to forget all about the Head servant with the vibrant red hair and take the lead. "I've prepared the perfect path for us to take…" She started, sharing Reqiel's enthusiasm as they started off hand in hand, talking and laughing.
Sarell stood on the steps that led to Reqiel's palace, unable to just go back in and do something to occupy himself. Reqiel never explicitly stated that he couldn't trail after them from a reasonable distance.
He had enough reasons to be paranoid, and it wasn't just because Reqiel was willful and impulsive but also because there was a high possibility that very dangerous individuals were after the young noble Angel. It was his duty as Prince Reqiel's personal attendant to protect him with his life if the situation called for that.
Sarell didn't need to try too hard to convince himself to stalk Prince Reqiel on his walk. "Close the doors," He directed the guards, walking slowly in the direction that Prince Reqiel and Princess Aethel had gone in.
He wasn't the only one with this idea as a matter of fact, a dark hulking shadow that took cover behind pillars and the walls of buildings, and the occasional tall hedge also followed the two friends who were oblivious to the fact that they were being followed.

At the innermost gates, there was a small group of trainee guards who were lined up in an orderly manner in two rows. Much to Randall's shock, they were to be assigned to an evening patrol around the inner court.
At most, the young man from the slums of Talfen had expected that they would merely be given a little tour of the inner court as part of their training and didn't think that they would be allowed to do as much as patrol the coveted inner court.
Unfortunately, he was put in a different unit from Andras, and he could only watch his tall companion be led away in a different direction. It was probably for the best, this way they would get to explore different areas of the inner court.
