Chapitre 21: Chapter 21

~Celestial Realm~

~The Capital~

The arrow had come from a tall building with a flat roof and unless the attacker had perfected the act of vanishing, they should still be there. They had gotten to the roof in no time, Velia and Cirion working together to quickly scout the place.

"There's a window here," Cirion spoke up and Velia immediately joined him.

The Crown Prince nodded. "Follow after them, I'll make my way down to block off any exits."

That was all Cirion needed to fly through the window, his lavish robes disappearing through the open space in the wall.

"His Royal Highness!" A squadron of guards dropped to their knees on the flat roof, heads bowed as they awaited orders from Prince Velia.

"Half of you scout the areas and buildings around to see if there are intruders, the other half surround the building, and do not hesitate to run your swords and arrow through any intruder that tries to escape from the building." He said tightly, stepping back to the roof's edge, then he stepped off, dropping down only to spread out his wings when he was close to the ground and sweep forward in the direction of the entrance.

At the top floor, Cirion moved with precision, keeping a sharp eye out. The building seemed to be an inn of sorts, it was an old building. It was made of earth with few windows which made it dim.

The first room he got into through the window was devoid of Angels which was no surprise as everyone was outside, either lining the sides of the brick road or at the Capital Square where the main part of the festival would take place.

It was also very bare, other than the bamboo bed at a corner of the room, there was little else, it didn't look lived in.

There was a high possibility that whoever the attacker had been, had rented this room simply to get the perfect spot to carry out his mission. The owner of the inn would have questions coming for them.

But that was for another time, he didn't need to search through the dim musty space to know that there was no one else in this room. So he made his way out the door, hurrying down the stairs.

Velia coming from below was doing the same, breaking into rooms and searching methodically. They met roughly halfway, on the stairs, Velia's already dark expression only getting darker.

"The building is empty," Cirion stated the obvious, sheathing his sword and leaning against the wall.

Velia slammed a fist into the wall. "I know that." He grumbled under his breath, letting out a juicy curse. "Let's get moving." He spoke to his younger brother, sheathing his sword as well, his ponytail swinging around in his state of upset.

"Do we go up or down…" Cirion started to ask when Velia broke the side of the wall by kicking it down. "Or you could just do that." He cut himself off.

Cirion was far more worried about Reqiel, they could capture whoever it was that had shot him but what did it matter if they lost him? He could already tell that the arrow shot into their youngest brother's side was no ordinary arrow, no one in their right mind would dream of attacking Royalty so if they would go ahead and do it, they would definitely do it well.

He went out the wide hole carved through the side of the wall after Velia, he didn't think he had ever seen his older brother get so visibly upset, it was almost like he knew something that Cirion didn't.

They shot up to the roof again and with a short order of, "Assemble!" from Velia, the soldiers sent to surround the buildings flew up as well. They fell into position, dropping on one knee again, all heads bowed.

"You will search the immediate area, you have the permission to search each and every building, I want the attacker at my feet." Prince Velia ground out in a dark voice.

"As His Royal Highness wishes!" The soldiers chanted in unison.

"Begin!" He swept out a hand, his wings fluttering with the force of his emotions.

Cirion had dropped down to sit on the edge of the flat roof, his wings gone. "We're not going to find them, are we?" He said soberly, staring into the distance.

"We would if you made yourself useful." Velia snarled at him, jumping into the sky in the next moment.

Cirion wasn't backing down though. "Even though it's bloody futile?!" He yelled to the quickly disappearing figure of his brother.

Velia graced him with no response, flying away. He was tempted to rip the crown off his head and head straight for the Royal Mount but this was his duty to do.

Besides he was beyond curious, there was something else happening here, something that was making Velia burn with rage, he wanted to find out exactly what it was.

Back at the King's Castle, it was outright chaos.

King Rinon swept through the hallways of the lavish castle, headed straight for the Royal Physician.

Usually, the services of the Royal Physician would be demanded and he would take up all of the tools of his trade to go attend to the King or whoever else required his services.

So the frail Angel was startled out of his skin when the King burst through the entrance of his rooms. He was dressed in the pale green that signified his position as a physician, the royal seal imprinted on his outer robes. Graying brown hair in a braid down his back with a pair of spectacles that had entwined branches as the frames.

"His Royal Majesty." The Physician dropped to his knees, his head bowed deeply.

"Cease the formalities, Erlan." The King said shortly, walking forward to place Reqiel on one of the patient beds. "Prince Reqiel has been gravely injured."

At this, Physician Erlan jumped to his feet with wide panicked eyes. "If it would not offend, could His Royal Majesty please place the Prince on my bed?" He bowed low to say. "It is far more comfortable." He added, already leading the way.

Sarell followed after them, looking extremely pale and ready to help however he could.

"He was attacked during the procession, an arrow to his side." King Rinon said shortly, he remained stoic but his worry was evident in his gold eyes which had gone dim.

Physician Erlan was already on his knees beside the Prince, inspecting him. A line of assistants on their knees was at the other end of the spacy room, their heads bowed low.

"I'll leave him in your car…" King Rinon started to say but Erlan's sharp sound of dismay cut him off. "What is it?" He asked sharply, his brow furrowed.

Erlan got to his feet and hurried over to the King. "If it would not offend," He muttered but out of habit than anything else. "But I can sense that the arrow's head was dipped in some dark essence."

King Rinon's eyes went wide at this, unease dripping down his spine, this was what he had been trying to prevent all along.
