Chapitre 35: Chapter 35: Sons Betrayal 1/2
Kaguya could be seen looking up at the stars with a melancholy expression. She was fiddling with the ring her daughter gave her and hugging the plushie of her daughter. "I miss you, sweetie."
She took one of the last scrolls her daughter had given her and infused it with chakra. As usual, a chibi Yukari appeared. "Good day, mommy," she said in a childlike voice. Kaguya's mood improved as she looked at her daughter.
However, her sons had not visited her in a while, and she began to wonder if they were okay and was worried. She had been having an uneasy feeling since the last conversion she had with Hagoromo that this would be the last time she heard her daughter's voice.
Kaguya couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in her heart, but for now, she decided to cherish this moment with her daughter and enjoy the innocence of her childlike voice and cute dance. She made a mental note to check on her sons as soon as possible.
"So, Mommy, this is the final recording I did, and I know I miss you terribly. The thought of being alone on a planet without you makes me sad. But because I am your daughter, I will continue to be strong for you. You should not be concerned. I will always love you, no matter how many years pass. I hope we can resume our previous conversation when I return. After all, I believe I'm your wife. I hope my true self did not back down. For now, remember that I always love you. Bye mommy, your cute daughter out," she said as she faded away in a cute goodbye pose.
With tears streaming down her cheeks, she said, "I love you too, sweetie. When you return, we will be free with no more concerns for my clan."
All of a sudden, she felt Hamura getting closer and quickly wiped away her tears. She said, with a hint of a smile, "Hamura, you're back." Hamura replied back, "I am back, mother."
"Where is Hagoromo, Hamura?" Kaguya became concerned. "He's still out patrolling the village," he explained, kneeling and covering his face. Sensing her son's deceit, she said, "Hamura, don't lie to me about where he is." Hamura's face tightened and he admitted guiltily, "He is not in the village."
"Hamura attempting to conceal things from me is pointless," she said, flaring a small amount of chakra. The air became agitated as it attempted to push Hamura away. Hamura's eyes widened, and he became terrified seeing his mother's power.
"My Byakugen is far superior to yours," she said emotionlessly, activating it. Kaguya began to search through his memories, feeling guilty that she had to do so. She was shocked to learn that her sons had disobeyed her. She was disappointed in herself for disappointing them. They've grown more attached to humans than she imagined.
She said, "I'm sorry, Hamura, but this is the only way I can keep you and this family safe," and she started to mind-control him.
Kaguya's emotions were in turmoil. Her daughter was not here, and her sons disobeyed her. She felt confused, as she did not know how to proceed. Since having a family, it had became important that they were safe. She did not want to fight her sons, but she knew she had to protect them.
As she continued to control Hamura, she couldn't help but wonder if this was the right decision. She knew that humans were beneath her from all the wars she saw and being betrayed by their father. But her sons had formed bonds with them. She looked up from her chair and saw Hagoromo infornt of her.
"Hagoromo, you two broke the laws and went to the peak, didn't you?" she asked, looking for an answer from her son. "Why did you go to the peak?" she asked firmly. "Then, you must know why we are angry, mother," Hagoromo said with anger in his tone.
Kaguya turned to face her son, enraged at herself because she knew she had let them down. She wasn't sure if she should be honest about why she was acting in this way because their human side was more apparent. It appeared as though they saw themselves as chakra-equipped humans. "Hagoromo, you don't need to worry about what I'm doing." In response, she said, "What you saw was for our safety."
Hagaromo only thought that his mother's action was harmful to everyone's safety. "But everyone from this land, every single one of them. I love them all, mother," he said firmly.
Kaguya was stunned by her son's words. He loved them more than his family. "You both do not know how dreadful they can be," she said as she thought of her clan members. "I come from a place far away in the skies. Love does not work on them. They only understand power," she said fearfully as her voice cracked.
In anger, she said, "But my love was also betrayed. And now I am too betrayed by the two for whom I risked my life and shared my power with."
Kaguya stood up abruptly, disappointed in herself and her sons. "I protected and nurtured you all this time," she said, sadly looking at her son. But, she was fed up with their disobedience, she risked her existence by giving life to them and wanted to protect both.
Kaguya's face contorted into a frightening expression as she spoke, "I will be taking back that power." Her eyes narrowed and her brows furrowed, giving her an intimidating gaze. Her lips curled into a snarl, showing her anger and disappointment towards her sons' betrayal.
The fear in her voice earlier had turned into a cold, menacing tone as she threatened to take back the power she had given them. Her entire demeanor exuded a scary aura that would make anyone tremble in fear.
