Bardeelus insisted on talking to the massive orb, which hovered above the town, but it did not answer him. It may not answer to anyone, but still, for him it was worth a shot.

In a pre-meditative state, he mumbled. "Speak to me… I'm not an idiot."

Furthermore, he activated his atmospheric vision, and then said. "Your rays… your mana, they're fueling me, specifically. You've been making me more powerful for weeks now… why? Why are you insisting on signing your own death certificate, orb? Pure necromancers like me, were the ones that put an end to the old world, you know that."

The orb still didn't answer him, and perhaps it may not even have the cognitive abilities to do so, but Bardeelus was convinced of what he saw. When he activated his atmospheric vision, the constant layer of 'red air' which engulfed the world, may fool dumber people, but he had enough time over the weeks to notice some specific lines between it.
