Marcella was hugging Tony closely and she couldn't see his face but he had relaxed by now. His shoulders were not stressed and he held her around her waist.
This time, his hold was gentle—as how he holds her.
Marcella smiled.
"Do tell me," he said and kissed her ear. She could feel the smile on his face.
"I was not scared of you," she said tightening her hold.
She couldn't think of anything else. He seemed to be hurt when she covered herself with the duvet. She didn't know why she did that. It was not out of fear. She probably wanted to put a space between them.
He squeezed her closer.
Marcella thought she was right. He took a deep breath, still pressing his lips on her head.
"Joey's crying," he said and patted her back to get her down.
"I hear nothing," she wrapped her legs around his waist. For some reason, she didn't think she was right. There must have been something else.
